    Study notes from class.

You can also study from an NCLEX study book.

We had to take it and if we failed, get remediation, but it didn't count towards our grades.

Good luck:-). I usually do all right on standardized tests and didn't have time to study for the HESI and I did fine, but having taken the HESI, I would recommend what I wrote above.

The people in my class who had the most trouble were those who were too anxious to focus on the questions and ended up running out of time. Go into the test as calm and prepared as you can and you'll do fine.

you can go to the hesi website & purchase the book & cd. the cd has many practice tests on it.....i thought it was harder than the actual test. the book has a lot of tips & focuses on all areas that are tested on. i think its about $75....or you can use saunders....do all the questions you can & read the rationales as to why your answer is either right or wrong.
i think the key is to do as many practice questions as possible...this helps to learn how to eliminate wrong choices. from my experience the hesi is more knowledge based (s&s of diseases, labs, dvlmp stages for children, ect) whereas the nclex is being able to apply what you know to deliver safe care. just read your questions carefully, do not add to it or think what if....and relax you can do it!

no its not the same as the nclex. at my school we were require to take it after every nsg class.....to see how we were doing compared to national avg. & help prepare us for the nclex. it is a computerized test set up like the nclex. in our last semester & before we could graduate we had to take an exit hesi & pass w/a score of 850 or greater. each test we took was a % of our grade. i think some schools may also use it as an entrance exam...instead of the nln. hope this helps.
btw...the hesi is suppsto be an indicator of how well you will do on the nclex
