Grades question

I want to know if anyone could tell me what grade number is what letter? Like 100 is a A. I got my first college paper back today and my grade is a 89.5 i think its 90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D but i am not for sure.

yea that's the standard grading scale 100%-90% A & so on. BUT it depends on the teacher. Some curve the grades and use a slightly different scale

Actually, it depends on the school. Your school will have a standard grading scale that applies across the board, and individual instructors are not allowed to use anything different. Your school's grading scale should be somewhere in your student handbook, and it should be in your course syllabus for every course.

The nursing programs I've had experience with have used a narrower scale, like an A is 93-100, a B is 87-92, and a C is 75-87 (and, in most nursing programs, a final grade below a "C" puts you out of the program (or you have to, at least, repeat the course).

Your mileage may vary. In my accel BSN program, some classes required a 90% for an A, some 93%, some 94%. This made it a real joy for all of us over-achievers trying to squeeze out every A possible!

Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard of having different grading scales within a single program. Of course, 'bout anything is possible in nursing ... :rolleyes:

Yes...it made a LOT of sense for us students also. NOT. I never asked "why?", but did ask that grading scales be commonized between courses when I submitted my end-of-program evaluation.

Some of my courses were actually graduate level, but I don't think the grad level courses had a consistently different grading scale than the undergrad courses. Strange, very strange....
