gpa to get into nursing school?

hello everyone...i'm currently taking some prerequistes to get into nursing school. i have already have an undergraduate degree in accounting, so i haven't taken a science class in a LONG time. i don't know exactly what kind of grades i'm going to get, so i was wondering what kind of gpa did everyone have to get into nursing school.

Mine is. Applying for SPC in St. Pete Florida. The only difference is SPC is based on gpa and percentage of prereqs completed.

It depends on the school. My school required an entrance exam and calculated GPA based on the last 30 credits. I scored in the 99% on the NLN-PAX and got a 4.0 on my prereqs. This is kind of extreme, but I knew I had to prove I could do it since my undergraduate GPA was 2.8, and a "meh" by most standards.

I would contact the admissions people and ask a blunt question. One of the schools I applied to has many students retake prereq courses if they don't get an A, but the admissions lady told me that Bs are fine.

Take a big deep breath and focus on the classes you're taking now. Do the best you can, which is probably amazing. I have an undergrad in history/sociology, and if I can pull it off, you can pull it off. Also, school is actually EASIER when you've got a few years on you and you REALLY WANT to be there and have a clearly defined goal.

Programs in my area require a 2.5 to apply for consideration, but realistically, you need a 3.3 along with an 85% or better on the entrance exam for acceptance.

I wish the prereq GPA was 3.3. I have a friend that got B's and C's in her prereq classes here and she moved to Florida to get into nursing school. She was excepted on her first try, good for her I guess, but it's upsetting to me because I started school before her, got perfect grades (unlike her), and had to take more classes than she did and she's currently in a program while I'm stressing out about just making it past the first round of applicants. My old roommate didn't even have to take any prereqs to get into a program in North Carolina. Her program only requires a 3.0 high school GPA, pass high school chem with a C- or better, and pass Algebra 2 with a C- or better...... in other words - just graduate from high school with an OK/average GPA. I guess I'm being a little rude, it's just disheartening when you work hard and struggle when others don't even need to try.

My school combined three different scores to figure the points. The lowest acceptable GPA was 2.75 in prereqs, I just found out that I got into the program and I had a 3.08 in the prereq classes. The HESI exam and the number of curses in the major were also taken into consideration. I think I had the lowest score of anybody accepted this semester, so I'm definitely not the norm. Divine intervention had to have been in play for my admissions process!:saint:

I applied to 6 community colleges with a 4.0 pre-req GPA and 3.43 overall GPA. My TEAS was 70%. 1 school is lottery and the rest are points based. I have known people to have 4.0 GPA not get in and I've known people with 3.0 get in. Its such a toss in the air these days. Good luck everyone. The best thing to be is PERSISTENT! :)
