Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, looking into nursing schools and debating on which course to take. I still need prerequisites, and really would prefer to jump into the accelerated BSN, but considering the ADN. For ADN, do you start right away, or do you need prerequisites for this as well? It has been a while since I have been in school and am new to the state of NC. I am considering South University in High Point for the BSN, not sure of any other places to look; I know the programs are all extremely competitive, and want to apply to places I am most likely to get in, and not be put on a waiting list. Can anyone give any input as far as which to pursue? I do want to be finished ASAP.

ADN programs typically have prerequisites. Mine required Anatomy 1&2, English composition 1&2, Ethics, Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Intro to Chemistry, and Microbiology. Competitive programs typically don't have waiting lists. If you don't make the cut, you have to keep applying until you get in or give up.

Thank you for your response! Are you by chance in the state of NC? If so, where did you go for your nursing degree? I figured I would still need prerequisites for ADN too, which is why I feel just going for an accelerated BSN seems more logical.
