Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi guys I'm looking forward to applying to some CUNY schools that have nursing programs I'm 23 and have a 4 month son I haven't been in school since 2008 I'm not good in math at all but science I was always good in I've heard that nursing school is very difficult and time consuming, competitive and you have to be good in math in order to become a nurse. I know that if I pay attention & stay focus and get a touter to help me with my math I would do okay. This is something I really want to do and I won't give up on my dreams of becoming a nurse because of math lol. I also want to know what are some requirements to get into a nursing program and what are the best schools in NYC with nursing programs.

Lord help me! I don't enjoy Math like that and I am taking Stats this summer!! :( I going to approach it positively!!

I'm taking Stats this semester while waiting to find out if I'm accepted into the nursing program. I am NOT liking Stats right now. I have a 4.0 average at this particular school (3.8 overall) and I feel like no matter how hard I study and do practice problems, I'm going to end up with a B in this class. Her grading scale is so tough (94 to 100 is an A, most other classes 91 to 100 is an A). I'm just going to take it for what it's worth, but I'm trying to get into a competitive post-graduate program once I'm done and I need every A I can get!!!

Same, really loathing Stats at the moment. I have poured so many hours into studying and have been managing only high B's on exams. I'm going to see a tutor and hopefully bring it up.

You need to be adept in mathematical concepts up to pre-calculus. You don't have to be a math major to succeed in nursing, but you need to be in tune with applying fundamental math concepts in things like drug calculations. None of these things are calc based, and they are mainly algebra. However it is one thing to know just the equation and numbers but not being able to look at a problem in its entirety. Practice math problems, be good at them, and also develop critical thinking skills, as well as effective problem-solving skills. It's not only math, but it's application that is very important.
