Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am in search of a new computer for school. That's all I'll be using it for. I am considering the HP stream but unsure yet. Anyone have any suggestions on laptops? Fairly inexpensive if possible.

I'm a toshiba satellite lover. I've got HP inexpensively for the boys to do schoolwork on (we homeschool with an online curriculum) and I HATE it, but then again I'm not a fan of HP products. I spent some time researching this morning and this is what I found; you want a minimum of 1.7GhZ or an i3 processor or better. Stay away from a Chromebook, you can't download any software. Also stay in the 15" or smaller range if you'll be toting it around. I've been looking at weight as well, books are heavy enough.

I haven't decided which one to get yet but I know I've got to get one soon, three on one computer isn't cutting it.

That's helpful information! I wasnt real sure what a chrome book was and it was one I was considering. My last HP laptop lasted 5 years, I loved it..I got a Mac and hated it. I sold that for a dell which is too small and I just don't care for it too much. So now here I am again looking ha.

I want a Mac but can't justify spending the money. I'd suspect that you'll need at the very least Word so Chromebook won't work. One of my requirements is a scroll bar, this laptop doesn't have one and I hate it.

I googled best "toshiba Laptops for college students" so you might try something along those lines. I've been eyeballing Sam's Club, they seem to have the best bang for my buck.

I went from an HP to a Mac and I just struggled to function it. Nice computer though. Just not for me, kind of odd because I was a huge apple fan. Still kind of am but now I just have an iPad and ipod.

I'll Google that and see what I find.

HP has a number of great low cost alternatives. The Stream is not actually a Chromebook, it is Windows based. However, it's limited memory & storage will curtail the use of MS Office products. You're going to need at least 4 GB of onboard memory to work effectively with Office. Most modern laptops are rugged enough to withstand the normal wear and tear of school life... unless you pick one of those 'wafer thin' (very expensive) toys - LOL.

I suggest that you take a stroll through a big box retailer (Best Buy, Fry's, Micro Center, etc) and check out their specials. I'll bet you will be able to pick up something at a much lower cost than you expect. You may also want to check with your school - they may have some discount arrangements with a manufacturer. When it comes to software, make sure you take advantage of your student status to get those huge academic discounts.

I wanted to swing by best buy but now everyones saying roads are getting bad. My luck lol.
