Chemistry and physics questions on NLN

Hello,

I am very new to this site so I'm still trying to get used to it. I take my NLN January 8th 2011 and I am extremely NERVOUS! I have NEVER taken physics or chemistry classes before in high school or college :/

I did buy the study guide book for it and am trying to review it everyday until january. I was wondering for those of you who have taken the nln, do you have to solve chemistry equations and reactions? Or is it simple questions about the definitions of atoms, ionic bonds, covalence, etc.

And for the physics, would I be ok if I just studied the formulas for distance, time, acceleration, etc.

Any info would be great, thanks!!

I took the NLN last Jan and got a composite score of 121. Needed only 60 to apply to the nursing program. I did poorly on the vocabulary but well on the math and science part. The study guide really helped. There were alot of physics questions and a few biology questions. For the chemistry part, there were no equations at all. It is all multiple choice so you can do process of elimination. Just do the questions in the study guide and you will do fine. Good luck!!!

I'm glad it's multiple choice, but for the physics part...was it hard? Are they story problems and you have to find the acceleration and velocity on your own by memorizing the formula?

I took the NLN last month and scored well (99th percentile). I didn't think the physics was hard, but if you've never been exposed to physics either in high school or college, it may seem a little tricky. I used the Jones & Bartlett study guide as a review, and I think it would prepare you to get some of the questions correct. Any actual problem solving using equations was at a very basic level.

Since there are 80 questions that must be answered within 60 minutes, the best advice I can give you is to keep on going. Don't get hung up on any one particular question. If I'm not mistaken, the exam is computerized now, which will allow you to mark the questions you want to review.

@ chicagoing, your silly!...i haven't taken it yet, I'm scheduled for januray 8, but so you don't feel bad I took it once before and only scored 100 with absolutely no studying, or anything so this time around I have hit the books hard!

My composite score was 156, 99th percentile. I also didn't study that much, but brushed up on some physics since it's been awhile.

Well congratulations to you!!! believe it or not people say it was hard but truth is if, (in my opinion) you had a good solid foundation in previous education you shouldn't have a problem..also if you a person who is like me i suck at taking test..i mean nausea the bg's..everything you can imagine...lol...with that score i'm tottally excited for you! I actually am scheduled to retest but am scheduled to go the lpn route...the suckie thing is that the rn program starts in the middle of the lpn classes so it kind of sucks to wait for a score...trust me when i tell you that with my luck i'll get in..:uhoh3::rolleyes::crying2:are you in NY..just in case you get silly again, I am in Brooklyn..lol:D

No I was supposed to take it but I changed my mind, I'm going to go the LPN route, I heard 123 students took it and 90 are getting in, I hope you are one of them! How did you find the test to be?:lol2:
