Chamberlain College of Nursing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I know that there has been past posts about this College. However, I am still confused about quality of the education. I hear good and bad things about the school and have no idea if I should try to get admitted. If anyone can give honest answers about this school that would be great!! I hear that they are about to loss their accreditation in one post and that they are not in another:confused:??? I hear that they are disorganized and that they are very organized?? I relize there are good and bad things about any school, I would like to weight my options.

P.S> I am interested in the BSN on-site program

Thanks!

I acttually attended this school I am a LPN I am working on my RN Chamberlain had a bridge program online I was doing great in my class work the classes were very organized before my 2nd semester with them they did shut the lpn to rn online bridge program down a lot of students were upset the school did offer to refund our money or we could enter there BSN program for free. I got my money back and they sent me a check to help me get into another program. I liked the online classes and the way they were thought but I was quite upset with that whole process. Chamberlain college had a low pass rate for the nclex exam thats why the state board shut the bridge program down. If you are already a RN you may do just fine because you already passed the NCLEX. I am currently in the Excelsior program working on my RN. So far so good this time I researched their pass rate the average aroun 90% to 85% pass rate on the NCLEX and Exelsior is in no risk of being shut down. They also have a BSN program which may even be a little cheaper . Chamberlain was very expensive I had to take out student loans just to pay for it. So it is alot to think about way all option before starting BSN school their are a lot of online BSN programs out their. You should also check out Kaplan, Drexal University, a lot of state colleges are offering their online Check out SIU and Murraystate they are more affordable.

Specializes in Cardiology/Cath Lab.

If you have questions about Chamberlain message me and I will be more than willing to answer any questions you have. I attended Chamberlain and have had nothing but a good experience from it.

Hi I am looking into the onsite BSN program at Chamberlain. How did you like the program? Teachers? How prepared for the NCLEX were you? Any info would be really appreciated :heartbeat

Thanks!!

Hi! I would really like to know more information about Chamberlain. I am looking at starting there in the summer of 2010 but up to this point, I have not found anyone who has heard much about them. I did hear they had a low pass rate, but when I went on the board of nursing website, their pass rate was 85-90%. Thanks for any info you have!

Yes I went to their school wheb they had an LPN to RN program I liked it. They did however get sut down in the state of Missouri to run the LPN to RN program because they did not have enough people passing boards. They also did not implement people to take the HESI before graduation. Even though they sut down the program they offered students in the RN TO BSN program for free. I did not choose to go in to their RN to BSN program because I could not make it to some of the classes which were offered on campus. I lived two hours away from the campus and I work and have a family. So the school gave me my money back and helped me get into another RN program they also let me transfer all of the credits that I had taken. After getting my RN at another school I choose to go back to Chamberlain because they offer a online program for RN to get their BSN it is a little costly but I like the way it is set up you take eight week courses and every thing is online it fits me perfectly. I get up before thekids are up and before I have to go to work and I do my home work I also do a lot of it on the week end. You have to be very self dedicated to do this program. If you are not self motivated you will not make it I just try to think of all the money I am spending on school and all the money I am going to be making when I am done and I get to work. Know chamberlain Is requring their students to take the HESI and a NCLEX review to help them pass the boards. I think it is a good program but you have to work hard and study for your boards any way. I recommand taking a prep course or doing a prep course book at home such as Saunders. I completed a whole intire prep book and took the prep cours I passed NCLEX with flying colors. I think you will like the way Chamberlain is set up I love the eight week courses It allows me to finish quickly I started the BSN a couple of months ago and I will be finished FEB 28th I will be able to say I recived My BSN in 32 weeks time that is not that bad. I take a lot of classes like 3 a session but it is cheaper that way and I get finish quicker. It is a lot of work I am not going to lie. I have papers due in all threee classes every week but I am doing it and so can you. So if you do not choose Chamberlain that is fine but do continue your education we need all the nurses we can get knowa days. Go to their website www.chamberlain.edu and check them out. My academic adivisor is Donna Spreckes and she is awsome she set every thing up for me and I still check up with her every once in a while.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share all that information with me. I feel much more confident about the program, now. I know it's a lot of work, but it is truly something I want to accomplish and I know I can do it. Thanks for your encouragement and best wishes to you and in your career!

Im taking classes there now

any suggestions on additional grants to help pay..thats my biggest problem

Heartbt2009,i am starting my classes on 3rd jan 2011.how is the classes so far for you? How ar u likin it?Are the classes ok and how is the instructors? How ar u doin with the tuition payment?

Azor,

How are you liking chamberlain?? I have an appt next week with an advisor to talk about starting my application process. Fortunately, a good amount of my credits are going to tranfer so the program is only going to be 2 yrs and 4 months for me but I'm nervous about the tuition. I am in the process of completing my fafsa now and I currently live with my elderly grandfather to help him out so I completely support myself. Did you apply for financial aid?

Also,

how was the entrance exam?? I've read from some that it's really hard and some that it's really easy......so I'm very uneasy about it! I am really counting on getting into chamberlain so any insight would be great!! Thanks
