  1. Stress can cause the trop bump. Afterwards you want to watch the CKMB trend down to make sure there is no issue with the newly placed stents. It also takes about 24 hours for the trop to peak after the MI. It probably was just peaking.
  2. If you have questions about Chamberlain message me and I will be more than willing to answer any questions you have. I attended Chamberlain and have had nothing but a good experience from it.
  3. I am an alumni from the BSN program from Chamberlain. They have not and are not in jeopardy of losing their accreditation right now. All the programs in the area are about the same when it comes to the curriculum. The staff is friendly and willing to help. The pitfalls to the school are they are disorganized and tutition is pricey. If you have any other questions message me and I will be happy to answer them.
  4. Barnes Jewish College of Nursing in St. Louis does not require the GRE.
  5. Everyone that I have known has had IV anxiety. The most important thing you can do is take your time with them and the more you do the better you will be. You know how to find veins from blood drawing. Now all you need is finding your technique for starting an IV and that will come with practice. Good Luck!
  6. Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis hires new grads.
  7. Do not let this get you down. I do not know a nurse that has not made a mistake. The important thing is you learn from it. Think of it as this is how you become a better nurse. This is how you gain and experience. If the worse thing you do is not label syringes, consider yourself lucky. Good Luck!
  8. I am a nurse on the floor that Obama visited in St. Louis. Just to give you a little inside scoop on what went on during the visit. First the patient load was no different from any other day. The nurse to patient ratio on our floor is at most 6 to 1 and that is rare. All the nurse and techs had the opportunity to meet him and I thought he was a very well spoken and respectful individual. He asked a lot of questions about our profession and it seemed he truly had an interest in our everyday jobs. Senator Obama stood back and watched while Kate showed him what she does. His interest with the patients was just the same. He asked questions to them about their healthcare and what they think it should be. In all our floor was lucky and honored to have him there. I think we should just be honored as nurses that he chose to follow one of us. It was a good spotlight on nurses no matter how long he spent shadowing us.

I have been very curious lately about travel nursing. I put in an application at Medical Express. The recruiter has called me back and we talked about what to expect. I was wondering if anyone has experience with Medical Express and what do you think about the agency? Thank you for all your replies in advance.
  10. I started out at Barnes as a student nurse on a cardiology floor and am now a RN on that floor. My opinion is that Barnes is one of the better hospitals to work at to get good experience. Barnes was able to give a great advantage and wonderful stepping stone into nursing. You are trained to do almost everything a nurse can expect give medicines for the most part. The pay is comparable to other hospitals in the area and student nurses techs get paid a little more than patient care techs there. You get great experience and in the end will learn more than you think.
  11. I am a RN and my mom and dad are RN's. I actually love that they both are. The three of us can connect on a different level now that we all have our careers in common. I love the fact that quite possibly being an RN has made my parents and I closer.
  12. NC and Atlanta are on my list of places too. Good luck with your search! Thanks for the reply.
  13. Hi there I need some input on where to live. I currently live in St. Louis, Missouri and I want to move. The one thing is I am just not sure what place is good for a young, single nurse. Obviously I need some place where the cost of living is affordable and safe. If you could just suggest some places to check out and why. Thanks for your time in advance.
  14. I am a nurse at Barnes and I live on the Hill. I love it and it is cheaper than living in the central west end. Either place is good to move to though. PM me if you have any areas you have questions about and I can answer them for you. Good Luck with your search.
  15. Hi there I am a nurse from St. Louis and was wondering if someone would give me some insight into raleigh hospitals. I am looking to move to NC. North Carolina has been a place where I have wanted to live. My experience is in cardiology and I have a little over a years experience at a large hospital. I would just like to hear what kind of hospitals are out there and what to expect with pay and benefits out there. Thanks :nuke:
