Attention to all current Cal State nursing students!!!

Hi! I'm currently finishing up my general eds at moorpark community college and am applying to nursing schools this fall! I am applying to the majority of the cal states along with mount st. Mary's and university of San Francisco. I am here reaching out to the current nursing students attending nursing school. I am curious on your overall GPA, and your TEAS score that got you into the programs. I know nursing programs are so competitive to get into so that's why it would help me a lot to hear about how people got into the program they are in, their scores, GPAS, and anything else that helped contribute to getting into their nursing program! Feel free to post schools you also did not get into as well. I am looking mostly for Cal State students but also curious about the private nursing schools offered. Thank you so much!! :)

Since there is little you can do to change your own circumstances at this point, what is the purpose of this other than to give you something to obsess about? Concentrate on finishing school with the best grades you can muster and put effort into your volunteer or paid healthcare job. Good luck.

It's just nice to know and see people get into programs with different GPAS or TEAS scores. I currently hold a 3.9 but my coucelor told me that might not be good enough to get into nursing schools. Not only do I feel discouraged because I felt very proud about my GPA until my meeting with her this morning. I was just looking for different answers from different people with different experiences from different schools to maybe help me get my courage back.

a 3.9 will definitely get you into a nursing school at any cal state .. i don't know why your counselor is telling you that? you are already doing your best.. and like the other post said just focus on getting good grades and keeping that gpa high.. don't stress out looking at everyones gpa or teas score.. be confident you'll do it!!! and if you don't get into any cal state nursing program .. try applying to the community college nursing program those are easier to get into.. i'm currently attending ventura college and my plan b is to apply to the ventura nursing program if i don't get into the cal states i'll be applying this fall 15

A few years ago I read about many 4.0 GPA students being turned away from a program because there were too many 4.0 GPA applicants. Just because that is discouraging does not mean that one should not have applied to that particular program. Sometimes it would not be possible to know what would distinguish a 4.0 student who was selected from one that was not.

Definitely? At any state? Now that's just false hopes. Good chance maybe, but nothing is guaranteed. Looking for an ego booster isn't going to help you or anyone else. Think of the 3.7 peeps.

Schools are largely competitive especially csus, and vary largely based on demographics and population. Why not hit up Google and look at the average acceptance rates for each school? Sac state was 3.92 GPA average back when I was looking at schools. Or apply out of state.

There are already tons of specific threads in the ca forum for each school. More information then you'll need there that I suggest you review thoroughly before making new posts.

Zzbxdo, I have already looked at many many MANY cal state posts on this website thank you for your concern, but I thought maybe I could get more answers I was looking for if I created me OWN post. I have been looking at every cal state website on their average acceptance rates and every other requirements for almost 2 years, but it is nicer to hear from REAL people that actually got into the program than a statistic on a website. I was having a bad day and wanted to turn to my other fellow nursing students for support in case they have been in the same boat as I. That's what this site is for. It's a tough area and competitive challenge I have been aware of that for quite some time now.
