Are there any nursing schools that doesn't require an entrance exam?

Hello

As far as i know almost every school does require a test before getting accepted in school. I dont know exactly what you're gonna be taking it all depends with the school. As for me i had to take the cPAT exam and also Hesi A2 exam. But i say just tough it out. I'm not big on test either. I actually failed the first time i took the cPAT but i studied right when i got home and passed it the next day. The Hesi A2 exam is a longer exam (4 hours) is the time they give you. For example, it only took me 1 and a half hour to finish the test. They tell you which study guide to buy. I had the Evolve Reach for the Hesi A2 exam. Studied it for a week and was soooooo nervous and worried. But thank God, i passed with flying colors! Hope this helps. and Goodluck!

I didnt have to take one. Well, I did have to take a 'math diagnosis' test but I didnt have to pass it just either get a 90 on all 3 parts or take a math for nursing students class which I did over the summer, 5 classes it was a joke really.

Ohh.. that sounds good. Which school did you go to? Do you need to have a really high GPA to get in? What GPA did you applied with?

oh sorry to clarify Im on the east coast, not CA...But yeah my GPA is 3.8 something..Im at TCC in Virginia Beach FWIW

I had to take a placement test that everyone takes but that just lets you test into 101 english and algebra 1(If you do bad you have to take math 3 or english 3 or whatever you place into)

Not in CA either, but no entrance exams in my nursing school. It is ALL based on GPA, so your GPA has to be higher, I would say 3.5 and above. Good luck!!

All the schools in California require some kind of entrance exam, so I don't know any particular one that does not have one. You do not need to have a very high TEAS score to get in, I think every school require their candidates to get 69% or above. The entrance exam is not very difficult, it's very much like SAT. In fact, it's actually easier than SAT. Your GPA is not that low, if that concerns you, then you will have to look into schools that do not accept students based on GPA and TEAS. You should try schools that are lottery based. Their requirements are a bit different. As long as your GPA is 2.5 or above, and have 69% or above on TEAS then you will have a chance of getting in. University of San Francisco does not require any pre-entrance test for admissions

University of Nevada, Reno doesn't require any entrance exams. The only downside is that because the acceptance is strictly GPA based, you would definitely have to retake some classes to raise your GPA at least above a 3.6. There are only a few pre-requisites that actually count towards the applying GPA. A few of them are A&P 1 & 2, Math, General Chem., Organic Chem., Microbiology, Communications, etc. So, if you can do well in those, you will definitely have a chance at getting in. Just look at the school's website. I assume you'd want to go to one in your area. We have no idea where you are. California is huge.

In my experience (west coast and Michigan) most do not require exams for entry. I'm in Oregon so focused here though. A placement test that some are speaking about above are not the same as an entrance exam, they are to assess your status for placement into math courses etc.. They are not counted for entry.

All the schools I've looked at only care about the specific prereq's they ask for and the grades. Extra points are awarded for prior degrees, sometimes work experience (seems to be that this is becoming a thing of the past), and ability to write essays with good content that they are looking at. Also some give you extra points for being a state or county resident where the school resides.

I had a 3.9 gpa and a previous MA & BA degree and was accepted to a ADN to BSN from OHSU program. I had to take every single course for extra points and all the prereq's that were required, but I gained acceptance on my first try. Had all A's and one B.

Keep looking and don't give up. Be open to an out of state too! Where I am there are so many applying it's impossible to get in without an all A average. And extras to boot. I hear some schools in Missouri accept almost anyone that applies.

I am a pre-nursing major now and getting a 3.28GPA for pre-req and overall 3.21. My school's advisor told me that I have a very low GPA for nursing school. Therefore, I am wondering are there any nursing schools in California that does not require an entrance exam( HEIS, TEA...etc.). I am really bad with tests.. so I am afraid that if i get a low score on those tests, I will not be admitted into the nursing program.

Doesn't help you now, but Duke doesn't require a GRE if your undergrad GPA is at least 3.4. Great for the MSN and PhD/DNP program. I love their DNP program description.
