Applying for 6 nursing schools for Spring 2012

I have applied to 6 nursing schools in California for Spring, 2012. I wonder if anyone out there is applying for Spring 2012 to CSUCI, CSU Chico, Grossmont, CSULB, LBCC or if any students at these schools have any words of wisdom regarding the schools, their admissions history, positives or negatives about the programs, etc.

It's a bit like a full time job working on applications, because each school has its own little way of doing things as well as specific requirements. Just wanted to start a discussion about the process and maybe get a few tips and maybe I can offer a few in return.

Im on the process, and its almost deadline, for channel island, and chico state and also long beach state. My points i think for Chico is 79-80points. i think. Is that good enough. I sure hope it is? how are your points? and for Chico its lower because they only accept version V of the TEAS. Does Chico accept TEAS IV?

Im so nervous... So what are your possible points for these schools.

Oh and for Long Beach I believe I have 8.?? almost a 9.0 but I know that there are lots of people applying with a very high score for long beach, or is there? Will i be able to get into any of these three schools?

this is so nerve wrecking...

Hi! I am applying to Grossmont for Spring 2012. I am also going to apply to SDSU, National University, and CSUSM for Fall 2012. I have heard good things about Grossmont. I don't much about the others schools you applied to. Just curious, how did you do on the TEAS V? I take it on Thursday. I am little nervous! My overall GPA isn't that great because of my previous college work (15+ years ago). My pre-nursing core is great, so a lot is riding on my TEAS score. Good luck to you!!

I have 91 points for Chico and a 9.60 for CSULB... I think it is enough, but there is no such thing as a sure thing in this battle for space in Nursing school... Although I will attend an ADN program.. I would prefer to do a BSN, since I can complete it in about the same time... I already have a BS in Biological Sciences...

I live in Long Beach already, so obviously CSULB is my first choice.

Wow. I think my points for long beach is 8.7. Awww. Not as confident now. And for chico too. So depressed. I don't think I'm getting in.

you never know.... Spring generally has fewer applicants, but it is very competetive for transfers. Are you already a CSULB student or are you planning to transfer?

Note that many ADN or BSN programs will only look at the last 60 semester or 90 quarter units and not your entire college career...So the better your recent grades are, the higher your GPA will be for examination.

nice. im a transfer and yea my last 60 units were mainly A's. I got more B's my freshmen first semester.. and actually i calculated my Long Beach points its lower.... its actually 8.367pts. Does that even become considered. im so nervous. its my second time applying, i applied in fall 2011 and well you know the story.

Don't give up.... Remember, that CSULB doesn't care how many times you take the TEAS, so you can increase your score that way... However, beware, because if you are applying to other schools, some of them will limit the amount of TEAS repeats. What was most challenging with submitting applications to 6 schools was that each one has a little bit different way of doing things... different requirements...different deadlines...different rules, you get the idea.....

beachsidenic, are you going to LBCC or CSULB currently? I go to LBCC but I won't be ready for nursing school for another year. I was looking at CSULB's admission stats for the nursing program and they said this Fall semester just over 1,100 transfers applied and they accepted 30. Not sure about current students, but hopefully you are one! I also plan to apply to 6-8 nursing schools when I am ready for transfer. I am a year away and I am already stressing out!

I'm an LBCC student, but I also used to go to CSULB many years ago... It's become very competitive, and I think each year it will increase even more. Everything is in and complete, so it's out of my hands now... just wait and see, and continuing to take classes at LBCC.

I'm glad that you are applying to so many schools, because it just gives you so many more possibilities. It's important to keep everything extremely organized including application dates and deadlines, transcripts, and all criteria outlined in each nursing school's web site. Oh yeah... and get A's in everything..especially the sciences.

A lot of people I know who plan on transferring into a nursing program have their hearts set on one school and are only applying to that ONE school. I don't want to be one of those people that are stuck on a waitlist for five years so I am not being too picky! I'm not sure if the people I know that are only applying to one school realize how tough it is to get into a nursing program. I had one lady tell me it is easier to transfer into CSULB than LBCC because they accept more people each semester. I was totally shocked! So far I have all A's except a C in pre calc my first semester in college. I took calculus the next semester and got a B, so I am hoping that will make the C not look as bad, I am worried though. I would hate for some one with a 4.0 that only took algebra to get in over me because of a class I took my first semester in college!
