I have applied to 6 nursing schools in California for Spring, 2012. I wonder if anyone out there is applying for Spring 2012 to CSUCI, California State University, Chico, Grossmont, CSULB, LBCC or if any students at these schools have any words of wisdom regarding the schools, their admissions history, positives or negatives about the programs, etc.
It's a bit like a full time job working on applications, because each school has its own little way of doing things as well as specific requirements. Just wanted to start a discussion about the process and maybe get a few tips and maybe I can offer a few in return.
Thanks!
Sure I don't mind...A lot of people on here helped me out a lot by sharing their stats. It helped me to push harder, because it let me know what I was up against. So here's the dirty details..
Cumm. GPA:3.5 with BS in Biological Sciences from UCSB
Science GPA: 4.0
TEAS IV : 92.3
TEAS V: 89.7
I couldn't have done it without the support of my amazing spouse.
Thanks for sharing! I've got to work on the cumm GPA. It is a bit low from my college course work that is over 10 years old. I've been retaking courses and such to bring it up. I have a 3.25 overall. If I only include my last 60 units it is 3.69, but I've noticed that not all of the schools do that. My science GPA is good, 4.0. I still have Micro to take, and the TEAS V. Did you use the ATI studybook? That is what I've been studying from.

You took the words right out of my mouth... I think that people are crazy who apply to one school and and pray to the nursing gods that they will get in. It's short sighted, but to be honest... that's just less competition for you and me. I've read blogs on here as well about people who pine away for that one school and stay on a waiting list for 5 years. No thanx. I also won't pay $125,000.00 to go to a school like West Coast University who will accept anyone with good credit.
For CSULB, they take the first class that is eligible for each category, so that C could hurt you... I think that most of it comes down to your Science GPA and your TEAS score (especially math), because the account for 8 of your ten possible points. So don't stress about the math class and just focus on what you can control now...
