  1. Hi everyone! When do your fall classes start? Mine start on August 19th. On Mon I have organic chem lab. On Tues I will have organic chem and physio lecture. Thursdays will be my Physio lab and another organic chem lecture day. I will have math online, and possibly will be taking sociology online. I need to get all of my books and lecture packets together this week! Good luck all, let the fun begin!
  2. I think that looks good. Smart to take the science courses in a full length semester. I've heard that the condensed summer session is crazy hard for sciences. You can do it!! I am a wife and mom of 4 so I also juggling a household with school. I've managed a 3.69 cumulative and 4.0 in the sciences (fingers crossed I keep it!). Good luck, you can do it!!
  3. I think it depends on how you learn. If you are good at memorization then Anatomy would probably be "easier" for you. Physiology is a different kind of learning (for me anyhow). You have to really learn the why's and understand the processes. It is not the kind of class you can just memorize facts. It really just depends on the person, imo. My only tip, be prepared to put in the study time, and know that you may have to change your studying style depending on the class. Good luck!
  4. Hi, I am in San Diego as well and had the same question. I don't have any new information for you, but what places are you looking at for a CNA class? I am going to SDCE in a couple of weeks for the Spring CNA class orientation. That program is @ $350, but I'm not sure of its schedule. I have one more pre-req to take in the spring and I am hoping that I will be able to do both. I came across International Health Group School of Nursing today. Have you heard anything about them? Where are you volunteering at? Maybe a job with a SNF to gain some experience first? Not sure, but I will be watching this thread to see if anyone with more experience here chimes in.
  5. I'm nervous about physiology and micro too. I've heard micro is a lot of memorization. I can deal with that, but physiology makes me nervous! I guess only time will tell. Good luck to you!
  6. I will be taking Physiology, Micro and College Algebra. Anatomy was a lot of memorization from what I remember, but since it sounds like your A & P classes are combined I am not sure any of my advice on that would do any good. When I took ethics it was a lot of discussion groups, debates, and reading. I've heard that micro is similar to anatomy in that there is a lot of memorization involved. Good luck this fall!
  7. I am in California and as a prereq for Anat & Physio an intro to general chemistry what is required at the schools near my in So Cal. When I was in Nor Cal the prereq chem class was a combined general, organic, & biochemistry class. Also for CSU nursing programs there is an organic chem requirement. That is what I will be tackling this fall semester, organic chem. Not excited about it. lol
  8. Wow, that is a lot on your plate! I only have physiology and micro left to take. I was just about half way through the semester last fall when I had to drop them due to my husband's schedule change. Anatomy took a ton of studying, but I feel physiology was harder for me! I will definitely be putting in my time on the last two classes I need. Good luck to you!
  9. Thanks everybody who chimed in on this. I was having a poor me day. lol Dust myself off and get back in it. Time to stop letting things get in the way! Currently I am looking for a Physiology and Micro class somewhere other than the community college. They do not have any classes that will work with our current schedules. On the hunt! Thanks again everyone!!
  10. Hello All! I am a pre-nursing student. I have my BA in Psychology from ASU, but decided a couple of years ago that I would like to get my BSN. I have completed most of the pre-nursing courses. I still need physiology and microbiology. For two semesters I have been enrolled in these two classes and then had to drop them due to schedule changes and such. I am married (my husband travels 5 days a week for work), and we have 4 children, ages 6 to 12. We live in San Diego. From what I've seen, the schools here that I will apply to only accept courses that were taken on campus. Pre-nursing students who are also moms, how did you make it work? I feel so close yet so far away from my goal, which at this point is just getting my prereq's finished! lol Any words of wisdom out there? Please share your stories!
  11. Hello! I am considering Concorde in San Diego to become an LVN. What do you think so far?
  12. Thanks for sharing! I've got to work on the cumm GPA. It is a bit low from my college course work that is over 10 years old. I've been retaking courses and such to bring it up. I have a 3.25 overall. If I only include my last 60 units it is 3.69, but I've noticed that not all of the schools do that. My science GPA is good, 4.0. I still have Micro to take, and the TEAS V. Did you use the ATI studybook? That is what I've been studying from.
  13. Congrats!!! What a feeling! I ended up not applying for the Spring 2012 start at Grossmont. If you don't mind answering, what are your stats? Cumm GPA, science GPA, TEAS V score? Did you have any "extra" points for anything?
  14. Thank you so much! I am off to go find that Barron's book.
  15. Hello, my first physio exam is rapidly approaching and I still haven't figured out the best way to study for this class!! I've already found that I can't study the same way that I did for Anatomy. Hoping some of you out there can give me some suggestions. Thanks a million!!
