Anyne going to HVCC? (Hudson Valley)

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Just wondering if anyone here is starting that RN program at HVCC in the fall. I'd love to know some of my classmates before starting because I am horribly shy when I first meet people. I'll be in the day program.....

Finally got it to load...looks like I'm only taking 4 credits this fall. :)

I'm taking Nursing 1 and an online Comp 2 class. Does anyone know how many people they accepted for the fall? I was told like 150. Which is concerning considering only around 40 sat for the 2009 NCLEX according to the website I was looking at. Does that mean 100 people are going to drop out or flunk out. That's intense. I got an 84 on my TEAS and I got accepted so I'm wondering what the cut off was.

I need that Comp 2 class but couldn't get in- the drop was today, though, so I may be able to swing it on Monday.

I don't know what the cut-off was, but I do know that it pretty much had to be high 60s or lower for the alternates. Melissa (in admissions) was going to tell me, but when I told her my score, she just told me I got in and that was pretty much the end of the conversation.

I saw that only 46 students graduated. The numbers look even worse when you read this, though, "At HVCC, school administrators say 1,200 individuals have applied to the nursing program for the upcoming 2010-2011 but the program currently only has the capacity for its 255 full-time day students and 100 part-time night students. The full-time program takes two years to complete." That means that only about 12% of students entering the program are graduating, which is even worse than the 25% overall graduation rate. But...I think you get out what you put in.
