Just wondering if anyone here is starting that RN program at HVCC in the fall. I'd love to know some of my classmates before starting because I am horribly shy when I first meet people. I'll be in the day program.....

Im starting at hvcc next fall but im going in the evening.

yeah, I'm starting Fall 2010. I did get your PM by the way but I don't have 15 posts yet so I can't send any private messages. I'm surprised I got accepted so soon, since everyone was telling me the wait list is like two years long. But I'm assuming with the TEAS, they base it off the test results. What did you get on your TEAS? I got an 84.

I got a 92 on the TEAS. I wonder what the cut-off was? I know at least 72, b/c I saw that someone else got in with a 72.

I feel bad for the people who were wait-listed last year and then didn't get in because they changed the way they are accepting people (basing it SOLELY on the TEAS,) but it definitely worked in my favor. I wish everyone who wants to get in could get in. I know a couple people who are hoping to get in on the second go-round. One can only hope someone on the first list doesn't send in their deposit, I guess (which, btw, I am nervous about b/c when I gave them my CASH deposit, the computers weren't working and though the woman told me that she put it in the computer, she couldn't print me a receipt. But I did get to make my schedule, so hopefully things are fine.)

I'm eager to finish up my A&P II and get started with my micro (which I will finish this summer) and then I will only have to take one class per semester. Woohoo!

yeah it should be interesting to see how it goes with accepting people based solely on the TEAS. But I think if you already setup your schedule then you should be fine because I got mine all set as well. I'm doing A&P II and Micro this semester so It'll be good to get those out of the way before the Fall.

I'm taking micro online this summer. It will be nice to have pretty much everything else done. I've taken 2-3 classes per semester up to this point, and it will be REALLY nice to take only one course per semester from here on out (including intersession this winter for abnormal psych.)

Who do you currently have for A&P II? I have Doc Mastrangelo- I'm in one of her online classes. Wouldn't it be funny if we were in the same class? But I don't think we could be because I am only aware of 3 other people in my class who took the TEAS.

Now begins the fun of getting all my financial aid stuff done. I meant to do it this past weekend, but I had to study for my digestion test, so now I need to play catch-up on that. :(

I'm taking A&P II at UAlbany since that is where I took A&P I. I figured it would keep things in order. I'm taking Micro at HVCC though.

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm quite thrilled to have just a few more tests before I'm done with A&P II. It has been harder for me than A&P I (probably because I now have a child and less time to study.)

Can't wait to get started with micro. I just finished all my financial aid forms today and will start filling out scholarship applications. Yippee!

I'm starting in Fall '10 too (and also very shy) -- and terrified so many people apparently already have their schedules! I want to be in the day class (read: I can not actually be in the night class, schedule does not permit) and am now concerned that despite my admission the class will fill up and I'll be forced into the night class.

Which is probably absurd, but I've known people it's happened to in other schools ...

Did you get your letter last month or did you get in as an alternate? I'm so happy that more people are getting in that have been waiting.

You should definitely go talk to Cathleen. When I called, they said I needed to be there between 9 and 12 and just wait for advisement as they don't take appointments, but they did actually put someone I know into classes via phone, so I don't know what the situation is right now. I wouldn't wait much longer if I were you, because I had a tough time getting the schedule I wanted and will be taking my micro class online over the summer b/c the only spaces they had didn't really fit my schedule.

I'll be in the day program, too. Maybe we can keep in touch here over the next couple months and then we will both actually know someone once classes start! :)

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got my schedule now, actually, as of this morning -- I expected to be an alternate, but my TEAS score was actually 91% so to my complete shock I actually did get in right away.

And am somehow only taking 8 credits after a year of overloads in my previous program; that's something hard to swallow! My micro class is also over the summer, though it isn't online -- considering how bad its hours are I wish it were.

That's precisely the reason I'm taking it online, over the summer. I work full time (this is non-negotiable for a variety of reasons) and don't want to stick my daughter in daycare every day of the week. That one class was going to have me at the school every day but Wednesday. One of my friends is taking it with me, so the cost will be a little more reasonable ($270 + shipping for lab kit, plus about $165 for a scope if you don't have access otherwise, plus all the class costs.)

I only have to take nursing one this fall. I have no idea how many credits that actually is. I've been trying to look it up, but I can't get WIRED to load for some reason..........
