Anatomy and Physiology for Fall 2013, help!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I'm planning to take Anatomy and Physiology for Fall 2013, but as separate classes. The physiology class a month later than the anatomy class, so I'm planning to get a head start on Anatomy to make Physiology easier. Does anyone have any books that they'd recommend? I'm extremely worried about taking both and asking myself if I'm just setting myself up less than stellar grades by taking the classes, but if I get a head start, then I would like to think I would be fine. Has anyone also taken both classes separately at the same time?

I'm taking A&P 1 in the fall as well but the class is combined; I have heard from other students on this site that the Kaplain Anatomy Flashcards are really helpful. I just ordered mine they should be here in about a week. My plan is to start reviewing the info over the summer..that would be my recommendation. Hope it helps!! Good Luck!!

Hi there, I took A&P 1 & 2 at my college last year & got an A in it. However Anatomy & Physiology was not split. I think taking it together helps you to understand it better. I'm just saying. My study tools were my lecture notes, reading & studying the material as well as going to the lab to look at the models. I also bought A&P Incredibly Visual book. That helped as well. You will do fine .

Thanks for the suggestions! I would like to take A&P together, but my school has A&P separated, and the only college that has it together is one that'd I'd rather not attend since commuting can take at least an hour in traffic. I was hoping that someone who's taken the classes separately would also respond, but any advice is helpful.

For physiology, get the Interactive Physiology DVD... It's really helpful. There are a bunch of youtube stuff that's are also good resources.

Taking anatomy before physiology is a smart move and hopefully both classes will cover the systems in the same order. While you are studying your notes or book, write out the material. For physiology, I made question sheets. Two sheets, stapled together. First page are your questions (hand written out), second page the answers. If you know the basics, you can figure out any question on a test. With anatomy, print out the diagrams, if they have answers on them, cross them out. Go over one sheet everyday until you know it. Put it in a folder. The next day, add another sheet, repeat. At the end of each day, quickly go over the sheets that you know and by the time you have a test, it'll be a breeze!

That's what worked for me and I had a high "A" (98% for A&P I and II). The interactive physiology CD is a great resource as well. Lastly, get together with a group about two hours before a test and quiz each other. You'll do great! Best of luck!

Also, I think when I saw this video is when I realized how amazing and awesome the body was, and how important it was to study A&P. Hope you find it inspirational. It's a video animation of a cell. Any cell, but it shows the beauty and the complexity of the body. The coolest part is that you get to learn it.

I will be taking Physiology as a seperate class too during the Fall. I took Anatomy last semester and passed. My college had an anatomy CD that really helped me out. It was put together by the professors who taught the pre reqs for the nursing program. It was extremley helpful. So I would check your schools Learning Center to see if they have anything like that avaliable. Good luck to you!
