Anatomy advice for nursing career

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Y schedule and life are pretty full like everyone else's. I'm a pre nursing student taking 14 hours this semester. I was approached about tutoring for anatomy next semester. My initial response was no but my chemistry tutor told me she tutors so she doesn't forget what she's learned. She said it helps her commit everything to long term memory. So I thought I would. Ask those of you that are nurses if it would be helpful. Ive heard you dont use it allforforget anatomy because udon't use everything you learn in anatomy in your job so I thought I would go to the horses mouth

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

moved to pre-nursing student to elicit further response.

I regularly refer back to my anatomy & physiology while providing nursing care, especially in communication with other providers and understanding the disease process in my patients so I can effectively communicate with my patient/family.

I think that would be a good idea to help tutor others. I'm currently in A&P 1 and I tell people who are trying to get into the medical field to to start studying it because its a lot of info.

I think if you can handle it with your other classes then do it! I thought about it but couldn't work it out with my schedule. It would be a great way to help yourself re-learn and reinforce the information in your own mind.

I would absolutely do it. My nursing school had a two year waiting list and now that it's almost here (I start Summer 2013), I'm pretty worried because I honestly don't remember much of anything from my prereqs. Even if we don't end up using some of the anatomy daily, it's still good to know that way when a topic comes up, you won't have to run to the books every time.

Awesome thanks!!!
