ADN Programs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Have any of you gotten into ADN programs without any prior nursing/medical experience?

I'm going to test my luck next year, once I finish my pre-reqs. I live in Southern California, and I have around 7 programs near me. I would be happy if one of them sends me an acceptance letter.

Thank you!

Wow, 7 programs around you! Not that way here in the boonies of Virginia. We have ONE community college serving about six counties. It's ridiculously competitive. But then most of the grads get jobs too because there are several hospitals and LTC facilities serving the same general area.I don't have any other medical experience and I got in, start in August. Some programs, from what I have seen on AN, do require CNA. Mine doesn't.

Haha, yeah, 7! But due to many being around me, the competition is just as high. Everyone and their neighbors are trying to get in the programs. Some of the programs have a lottery system, so I am hoping that I win the jackpot. Congratulations on your acceptance, though!

I applied to just one (ADN) and got in :) There are several nursing schools around me though (2 BSN programs right here) although other ADN programs are anywhere from 2-4 hours away.

I live in Oklahoma, and the ADN program I am starting in the fall is the only one within 45 miles. I had my CNA, which contributed to my total number of 'points' that admissions uses to determine acceptance vs rejection, but I have no work experience as a CNA so I would say I was accepted without prior healthcare experience.
