ABSN Prerequisite Options?

Hi there, I'm currently a senior in undergrad and recently decided to purse a 2nd-degree BSN after I graduate. My current degree is in the humanities and I know that virtually all ABSN/2nd-degree BSN programs require a hefty load of science prerequisite courses.

Would anyone happen to know of any 2nd-degree BSN programs that are more flexible (i.e. allow you to complete some of the prerequisite courses after beginning the program), or that provide in-house pre-req options? I stumbled across this from the University of Cincinnati, but can't seem to find many other programs like it:

Essentially, I'm trying to figure out whether I'll be able to apply to a BSN program this year if at all possible, or if I'll have to wait a year and do the pre-reqs at a community college (as all my undergrad classes this year have to be within my humanities major). Thank you!

EDIT: A second question--has anyone taken nursing pre-requisites online (for ABSNs that don't require pre-req labs)?

Pre-reqs are exactly that. You have to complete them before the program, not during.

I can't imagine there are any microbiology or A&P classes that don't require a lab that would qualify for an ABSN program.

I've said this so many times....if you want it bad enough, suck it up and put in the work. Short cuts don't help anyone. If you don't want to put in work for pre-reqs.....what are you going to do when poop gets real in nursing school?

Hi there. I have a social science degree, and just started nursing prereq's in the spring. I'm taking all my non-sciences online (nutrition, stats, human development). It will take me a year because I can only do 2 classes as a time, but that's what works for me. I don't think there's any way to get around having to do them before nursing school, but that's not a bad thing. I can tell you that anatomy was a whole new world for me, coming from a non-science background. I'd say it's best to start prereq's and decide if it's for sure the right path for you. Good luck!

Another route would be to apply to a traditional BSN or even ADN program they won't have the same requirements for ABSN and end up in the same spot - RN

I've got a previous BA and masters and chose an ADN program because it was the most cost effective and family friendly route.

Even if you could find an ABSN program willing to grant admission before completing all your prerequisites, accelerated programs are highly structured & very intense - in order to condense all of the course work & clinical practicum into such a short time period. It an all-encompassing endeavor.... with no time to take extra courses.
