Aaaargh A&P!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

This is just a mild rant. So Im starting my 1st semester of pre-reqs and I have been stalking my school website waiting for them to list teachers and books. I have received an answer from everyone except A&P & Math. Math I could care less, I can pass with my eyes closed. But my A&P class doesn't have a teacher assigned yet!!! The ONE class I actually want to read ahead. :bookworm:. Boooooo.

Oh well. I bought EZ Anatomy and Physiology Kindle edition (actually bought it a year and a half ago when I was first considering nuring school) and am starting to read and make flashcards from it. I have a couple of the A&P resources from this forum bookmarked but I find it easier to use this version for some reason. T-3 weeks!!!! PAX RN workshop on Saturday, orientation next week.

You sound pretty prepared! More prepared than I am currently, but I am starting with only basic pre-reqs my first semester yet due to only being able to take online courses, so nothing science related yet. I feel like reading anything on the subject is going to help you, anatomy and physiology sound like a broad subject but it's all objective.

Im trying to get ahead as much as I can, even though its probably only going to give me a heads up for a few weeks at the most. Im stuck between being worried about A&P but at the same time knowing that I excel at classes that I am interested in and enjoy, and I think A&P will fit that bill. Plus I have 2 girls not yet in school and will be working PT.

Im taking online classes too, but A&P & Psychology are the only 2 that I am taking on campus. Have you decided which path you are going to take, I know you were debating a few different options? mindofmidwifery

I feel the same way, I do well in classes I have an interest in, not so well in classes I couldn't care less about (ahem, math haha). How do you manage to balance everything? And yessss, I'm finally enrolled in my community college, although I still need to get financial aid together. BUT I'm going to focus on getting my RN through their associate's program. I'm taking a fair amount of classes and I might also get a part time job but it's up in the air right now. I am trying to avoid stress this semester :smug:

Hey. I may be a little late to the game here. Do a google search on Principles of Anatomy and Physiology textbook by Tortora/Derrickson. 12th edition. They have it for free in PDF form and it's an AWESOME text. You can also check out Dr. Mandi Parker or Professor Fink on You Tube to get a "jump start." I hope this helped. :)

Thanks. I'll look them up

Girl I have no clue. This week I started menu planning, I'm trying to prepare the bulk of my meals on one or two days and save money. I just bought a crock pot for the 2 days I go to school so I can throw ingredients in there in the morning before I leave and dinner will be done when I get home. Lots of late night and weekend studying. I'm also trying to arrange to get one Friday off a month from work to spend a few hours with the boyfriend and the rest studying.

Good luck to you! I've found the best bulk meal is pasta, a big pot of pasta. You can make different small sides such as a salad or steamed vegetables to correspond with it so it doesn't taste drab. When I've cooked crockpot meals they don't last as long as I would like, but my crockpot is fairly small, plus I guess it depends on what you cook in it. Where will you be working part time? I have an interview with a home health agency and then one with Well's Fargo and although WF pays more, I think I'll go with home health for the exp.

We started with Histology in A&P I, and it seems like most do. If you have a chapter in your book for that, I would read that chapter. It is the basis for EVERYTHING going forward in A & P. Every system talks about the tissue histology, so getting a good grasp on that would be a good place to start.
