9/21 This week in PreRN I learned....

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

This week I learned....

-Studying for an entire day straight is more exhausting than I thought!

-I feel like there is never enough hours in a day!!

-My family immediate family is having trouble dealing with my busy schedule. My parents complain that they only see me on the weekends and even on the weekends I cut my visits short because of school. I try to explain why but they are just so sure that I am avoid them.....*sigh

-The entire process of reproduction is indeed a beautiful one, ad least from the inside. I don't think the whole venture of bumping uglies can really compare. Also everyone should have a feeling of accomplishment being that you were the one out of millions of spermatozoa who made it to fertilize momma's egg! Congratulations!

-Speaking of reproduction, My husband and I have been TTC for the last 3 months and I am worried that it is not going to happen in time. We are trying to get pregnant by Nov so that I can have the baby before I start nursing school. Fingers crossed!!

What did you learn this week?

One word: memorization :dead:

Specializes in ICU Stepdown.

Good luck with the baby making!!!

I learned firsthand that a year of sticking with the same job truly makes a difference when applying for better jobs! I applied for a ton of hospital jobs and so far I have two interview requests ☺️

Specializes in Nurse's Aide.

This week:

I am slowly enjoying Microbiology. The professor I have is so energetic, passionate and relatable in the content. I learned that microorganisms control us. In everything that we do. And they've been around for a long periods of time. I find that interesting.

I am liking technology and software to do for homeworks for my Statistics class. We are using MyStatLab, and it is heavenly. Being able to compute large pieces of data for homework is HELPFUL!

This online course I'm taking is my 1st one and it is really making me learn time management for all 3 of my classes. It's a balancing act.

The amount of information that I have been able to retain is scary! I am waiting on the day that I reach my capacity and my head explodes. :zombie:

I found Micro really interesting as well, and it also made a little more aware of germs :yuck:

I am also taking 3 courses this semester and I have become the queen of time management lol

Lactated ringers! We talked a lot about IVs and their purpose in physiology. Learning about all the different ones and how they aid in regaining homeostasis.

Had Organic Chem exam (got a B on that) and an anatomy lab quiz (A!). I'm feeling like I'm in my school groove.

Currently taking Microbiology my teacher is a little strange lots of energy but the dude is just mad weird only 3 other guys in the class just got our first test back got a 90 and the two (attractive) girls next to me got a 70, let's just say that I am probably going to be hated lol, I'm one of the students that can review the night before and pass very efficiently everything just ticks but i know those habbits will have to change. The different kind of diseases are ridiculously interesting I love using the bunson burners and microscopes

I am still struggling to get my act together with physio. I really wanted to love this class but so far I just don't! My instructor does not lecture during the lecture period, he will only answer questions that you have from the reading and PowerPoint that you should have read and looked at on your own time before class. Someone even asked him if he would go over the PowerPoint during the lecture period and simply replied 'Nope'...very frustrating!

I spoke with my friend who has been an RN for 2 years now and she told me a lot of instructors are like this in nursing school and I need to get used to it.

So, I just need to give myself more time to learn and study this material. There will be no more studying the night before and getting A's for me, it's time for me to put in serious work😫

@vicchic20 and fcp4life I loved micro! The labs were always so cool and I just loved learning how bacteria, viruses and pathogens in general work. As your classes move through the semester, it gets even better. Have fun!
