okay, people! who is with me on this one? i am feeling a little nervous about all those slides! i'm looking forward to meeting everyone in this course!

i will gather up any useful sites i find in the last med micro club and elsewhere and put them in this post!

here's a start ..

some sites from fall 05 club:

I wonder how exactly you sex misquito larvae.... furthermore, Why you would want to

She said she had to.....she also said that it was a very difficult task since male and female larvae are very hard to distinguish, they do have a certain pattern but I can only imagine how hard it would be to differentiate them.

She mentioned this while we were talking about malaria and how it is transmitted by mosquitos. Good question why she had to do it, I'll ask her on Tues.

Happy Birthday!!!!

This is to moonishasingme1......Happy B-day and now you can finally have this legally  (I'm just kidding, I don't drink much and if pass out after about 2)

We started the Unknown project and I will have to go in on Monday to re-test. Because of a lack of time you almost HAVE to go on your own and work on stuff in open lab.....there is just no way to get it all done (and get it all done right!) in the short lab where the whole class runs aroound like headless chickens. It's totally chaotic and I just want to cry:(

Specializes in LDRP.

Lab is starting to get hard for me too. This class just really got a lot more difficult this last week-I dont know what happened but I am feeling overwhelmed....agggggggggg!

That's EXACTLY how I feel.....overwhelmed :o

I think I got my "Unknown" bug identified.....I spent much time in open lab yesterday and had a great time and success. I was able to determine that my bug is a gram- bacillus. After some biochemical tests I was able to narrow it down to it being and enteric and after a TSI test I was able to narrow it down some more....the test produced sulfur in the butt and there are only two bugs on the list that produce sulfur. It looks alot like I have Proteus vulgaris...it smells terrible (she must have gotten it out of her catbox!!!) I am really excited to find out more next time when I check more tests. I am pretty happy at this point, I think I did well on my 5 point bonus quizz today(it counts towards next weeks lecture test #2) and I will study my "sulfur butt" off to A'ce the lab test on Thursday.

What a difference a day makes, I am winning the Microbial War of 2006 afterall

I am glad you are winning, because this puppy is kicking my hiney. I thought I knew what we had.... until two motility tests said Au contraire. Thing is our results really don't fit anything else and we have done all tests twice to confirm results. I am gonna cry really soon I swear!:(

Oh Well, it will all be over come monday when we turn in our results and I have done my best and have made the best educated guess I can based on double testing my results. My best is all I can do and I shall move on to my beautiful Flora with a resigned sigh:rolleyes:

I also did a motility test and some other tests and will see those results tomorrow. I am anxious and hope things will still add up. Our teacher said that our test results might not have exactly match our lab manual...and we should give our best educated guess.

I hope things will work out for you. Good luck.
