Nursing Students SRNA

Hi everyone,

Please helps me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going for the interview for the CRNA program in a week. I am very stress out and overwhelmed right now. Any tips so I can be more focus and relax, it would be greatly appreciative. Thank a bunch...

Specializes in CRNA.

I don't know anything about the KU program, but the US News and World rankings are almost meaningless. They send a survey to each program director and ask them to rank the other programs, that is how they come up with the ranking. So if a PD is asked to rank the program down the road, and is competing with that program for applicants, what is the incentive? the incentive would be to rank the other program lower. Then how does a PD rank the programs from across the country? Most likely they really know very little, but are asked for their opinion. All those 'opinions' are compiled, and that's the ranking. Just ask News and World, or read the fine print. Those rankings are to sell magazines and nothing more.

Specializes in ICU.

I don't look too closely at the rankings because what I've researched is exactly what I've read Loveanesthesia. The best a person can do is go interview and see what their gut feeling is. I've heard the program had been under scrutiny and has changed in the past 2 years. I also have an interview at BryanLGH in Lincoln, Nebraska and am looking forward to that. Thanks for all the posts everyone!

Arcurtism, Did you get in to ku? Or did u tenman11?

Can any recent students or graduates inform us how this program is now? More specifically dealing with clinicals...does KU prepare students to be independent providers upon graduation? I applied for the Fall 2016 start.

Hey Go-GetterRN,

Any word on your application status/interview? I have also applied.

Mike

Nothing yet..hopefully waiting for an interview invitation letter or something. What about you?

Good luck!

I got a letter in the mail yesterday for my interview time... and they also sent me an email a couple days ago about what I should prepare for... but I would love it if someone that interviewed recently had any insight about what they ask about during the interview. Hopefully you two got letters as well!

Hey guys! So I'm planning on applying next year, and KU's CRNA program is my first pick! For the people that have recently received interviews, what was your academic standing, anything special you did, etc.!? I can use any advice at this point.

Specializes in CVICU, SICU, MICU.

Is there any way you can tell me what your interview at webster was like? What type of questions? Any questions specifically you remember? There is zero info regarding their interview on the web, and any information would be awesome. Thanks!

I just completed my interview at KU, was accepted, and will be starting in May 2016. All of the faculty and part of the student body were present and very welcoming but honest regarding their feelings towards the program (strengths/weaknesses.) The interview was a 2 panel interview with 2 written tests (a math question and writing prompt.) Current student's talked with you in-between your interviews. They mailed interview candidates with materials they should review prior to the interview. The clinical experiences and faculty support look solid. Some student's were almost completed with their required no. of cases before they even entered their 3rd year.

Applied to KU this year. Just curious on stats of applicants? Also, for all those in school here- advice on application, interview? Wondering what made KU choose you over other candidates?

Thanks!

I interviewed this year and was accepted. Interview was still 2 panels; 8 faculty and two 3rd year SRNAs. While waiting for the interview, 1st and 2nd year SRNAs talked with you and answered questions about the program. There was a hand written writing prompt. No clinical questions during interview, more of a get to know you interview. Everyone was very nice and friendly. It was not about your knowledge base, they wouldn't have given you an interview if they didn't think you had enough experience. I believe they are looking for the "right fit" for their program, so be yourself and if you are a good fit you will get in. Everyone I met there was friendly, professional, and positive.
