One month until graduation: is this really going to happen?

I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel like I am spinning in circles. I have one month until graduation and I keep thinking that this is not really going to happen; that something is going to happen at the last minute and everything is going to crash. I haven't started a job hunt or even updated my resume. I can't get anything done. I don't know what this is about, I don't remember feeling like this when I graduated from undergrad but then again when you are very young you just assume everything will turn out your way. And don't get me started on fears about assuming a new role.......

Sorry, I just had to let it out. Thanks for reading.

It has been a long road and having the end of it in sight can be an unsettling feeling - as weird as that sounds.

Congratulations on your accomplishment!

Thanks a lot Steph, that means a lot coming from you. I think I'm going to go hit some weights. Maybe that will help me focus and settle down a bit.

...reminds me of pregnancy, all the preparations for each trimester, the office visits, labs, getting baby room ready, lamaze classes. New clothes for mom and baby's arrival. Then we go thru birthing process...and have to bring a helpless infant home!! ...with lack of sleep, skills, etc. Then the "what have I gotten myself into" thoughts.

...so you are giving birth to a new phase in your life. Congrats and God bless!

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Sharon - I feel your pain! I too am at graduation and though I've interviewed for two positions (both places were interested), I can't get out of the idea that I wil have to change jobs and get out of the ER. Its even affecting my work to a small extent (I am losing patience with the dumb docs - lol). I think it is like at the end or close to the end of accomplishing something and then you don't know what will happen. For me, the unkown is the clincher.

I think you will do fine once you get there! Let me know how the job search goes!

Precisely! It's good to know others are feeling the same thing. Keep us updated on your progress too, trauma.

Hey Elk - we graduate the same day! Yippee!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and let me tell you it is so nice to see that my fears are not abnormal! To you soon-to-be-grads WAY TO GO!!!!!! I just graduated in December and felt exactly the way that you do, I was sure that something was going to happen right up to the moment of my pinning that would ruin everything. If you have made it to this point it is smooth sailing, enjoy your accomplishment!!!!
