Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Looking to connect with any grad students at EKU. I have applied to the PMHNP program. I'd love to get some info.

Thank you

Well, EKU was a no-go for me :( I applied, sent over all transcripts...then got the call. I was told that because I am from MN, they are not considering my application. Even though they are approved by the Office of Higher Education, they are not approved by the MN Board of Nursing because they changed the Nurse Practice Act here in 2013, now requiring all instructors who teach MN students (even online) to have a MN license or endorsement.

I've been following this thread because I was considering EKU's FNP program. I ultimately decided to attend a school closer to home, but I'm really sorry to hear you went though all the trouble to apply and had your app tossed out in spite of things, LilRNonthePrairie. Hope you are able to attend elsewhere!

Thanks grandpaj! I actually was accepted to Brandman (Irvine, CA) just today, and supposedly they are willing to do whatever they need to in order for me to be able to attend. I am waiting to hear back from the Dean on Monday to find out if that actually means they are willing to pay for all of the faculty that would be teaching me to get MN liscensure endorsements. What a mess :( I did apply to 3 local schools, but won't hear back from any of them until Spring. So I am considering starting at Brandman, hoping I get accepted locally, and can transfer. Otherwise, Plan B is to sell the house and move out to California I guess!

LilRNonthePrairie, I am really sorry to hear that EKU did not work out for you. This may not be the news you were hoping to hear, but at least you know the reason now as opposed to the middle or the end of the program when you would have invested all that money and effort.

Congrats on getting accepted into Brandman. I do hope you also get accepted into the local schools you applied to so that you have more options. Good luck to you!!!

Does anyone know if they have a list of states they do or don't accept? I'm in Pennsylvania and am very interested in their FNP program.

I would email them and ask. They were really helpful when I emailed them my rather lengthy list of questions. They are not my first choice but I'm applying there as my back up school.

I know this post is very old but I got accepted to EKU and will be starting in January ! Please if you can message me on what to expect I would be very grateful

hi dollie, how long did it take from when you applied to when you received your acceptance letter? who completed your references? (i.e. RN supervisor, psychiatrist, NP, etc) thank you....

brentntexas - tried to PM you but your box is full. How do you like EKU??

It took about 5 weeks and I got my references from my manager and charge nurse

Hi! I just started the PMHNP program. I was wondering how you liked it? Was the research project hard? And how difficult was the comprehensive oral exam? Any advice about the program in general ?
