Direct Entry MSN CSUF

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello all,

Has anybody heard any news about the new direct-entry MSN program at CSUF? I went to the campus today and picked up an application and while I was there asked asked about the overall interest in the program. I was told it seems like its going to be a very competative group of people. Anyone here applying? We can all go through this together :monkeydance:

I thought the interview went well, but it's only ten percent of the total. I'm glad they conducted interviews though, it really seems like they are interested in who they accept as opposed to other schools I applied to--it was like pulling teeth trying to get someone to tell me about their program:uhoh3:

I do remember Dr. Wickman mentioning, however, that they will most likely be sending out early emails to the acceptances to let them know before they get the package, but the letters will be coming at the end of April.. (sigh)... more waiting....:o

I know what you mean... The waiting is the hardest!! :sniff:

I wonder if the selection committee inteviewed 120 applicants....or more?? Because today is the last day of interviews..

Does anyone else have any updates or the latest scoop?? :)

Hi everyone! I'm actually going to have my interview tomorrow and I'm so nervous...anyone have any advice, suggestions? What kind of questions did they ask? Is there anything I should prepare for?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)!

:welcome:

Congratulations on your interview!

A good source to look at for possible questions is the following thread.. allnurses.com Nursing for Nurses / Nursing Student Forums / General Nursing Student Discussion Can we make this a sticky? Interview questions

Good luck on your interview! :)

Hello everyone!

I thought the final interviews were conducted on April 11th... Does this mean we would be hearing back from the program possibly in May since the committee is still interviewing?? Yikes! This waiting period is pretty tough! :uhoh21:

yams012 congrats on your interview! let us knos how it goes.

i agree with dko1, i thought the final interviews were on april 11th?? sometimes i feel like the admissions committe is not being honest with the applicants, and i find it a bit frustrating!! oh well, i guess i'm just impatient.

hey all,

first off, congrats to all those who have already completed their interviews and good luck to those who are still in the process of interviewing!

anyways, i have a question that is slightly off topic but still within the confines of csuf's elmsn prog. it says on their website that you're required to attend an info session. but what if you're from out of town? did you guys have to attend an info session prior to applying? thanks!

I got word from some applicants that they had already recieved rejection letters...But, a response from Elonda said that no letters have been mailed and they are scheduled to be delivered via email and mail on the 30th of April. hmmmm......i guess we shall wait and see:rolleyes:

lala25, thank you for your kind words! I thought the interview went okay, but still soooo nervous...I really want to get into CSUF's EL-MSN program...it's a wonderful program....good structure, faculty...and the cost..(a lot better than other schools...where I feel like it costs us an arm and a leg..literally).

Dr. Wickman said that they have decided to give 140 applicants interviews (instead of 120)..and they should be finishing interviewing more applicants by the end of this week or early next week...but still will be sending out notification letters (acceptances, alternate lists (or waiting lists if you'd like to call them, and rejections) by the end of this month....all will be sent out on this day...so no one should get notice before hand.

and dko1...thank you for your wishes and the links....I was able to look at all of them and get great resources from them...unfortunately, they were not helpful for my interview...wasn't asked any of those questions!

lastly...to answer megamiepona's question...they say it's required...but they'll still take your application....if you look at the admissions criteria breakdown...attending the info session is not a component...it is definitely very helpful and beneficial...but definitely shouldn't hinder with your chance of being accepted....I personally couldn't attend any of them because i had class/work conflicts I couldn't get out...so I had a family member go for me and go the information for me....

congrats to everyone else too...and hopefully we'll all meet in person...when we're all accepted =)! (keep our fingers crossed!)

nskoog,

Yikes... are you serious??? Did these applicants have an interview?

Yeah they did have interviews but the director said she had not sent anything out and if they got them, then it was a mistake. Wow...

Oh my stars!! So they received a rejection letter by mistake???
