  1. @ enfermera_me: CONGRATS on the acceptances. i was accepted into CSULA's APN program and waitlisted @ CSULB's FNP program. i am debating between the two schools and have heard the same things. @ nursegirlie: have you heard any pros or cons about the ANP program? i'm leaning more towards taking the acceptance from CSULA with the ANP program. i see that finding preceptors will be a fun challenge ...hahaha...and that is horrible that the school/program seems to be disorganized, but you make the best of it, nonetheless, right ?! i just wanted to get an honest opinion from a current student about what they think of the program overall. i mean no MSN/nursing program is perfect, so i know there will be flaws . also, you mentioned ANP program is full-time? so it has to be finished in 2 years? the reason why i ask is b/c i'm working as a RN @ a hospital, and wanted to see if i need to tell my manager....if i can continue working full-time as i am right now...or if i need to switch to working part-time. sorry for all the questions! thanks and best of luck to your studies!
  2. @rroxas88: Thanks for the advice! Just went ahead & emailed Alison...hopefully she'll respond soon! Congrats again on your acceptance. CSULB is such a great school, crossing my fingers I'll be a part of the family :w00t:!
  3. CONGRATS to all of you who have been accepted, how exciting ! I'm still waiting to hear back from the program. But was just wondering how you got your acceptances...via email or mail? Thanks! Praying I'll be joining you guys :)!
  4. @ hjnurse: hello! i applied to csulb's MSN-FNP program for fall 2012, and still waiting to hear back from them. i could be wrong...but i thought i remembered from their information session that we'll know by may? or i could just be making stuff up in my mind ?! good luck!
  5. JustanRN, CONGRATS on being hired! Is Neurosurgery the same as Neuroscience/Stroke unit? B/c the unit director called me last Thursday as well and offered me a position :)! I was just wondering if you got called in, emailed, anything about when to come in to sign new hire paperwork? I'm just debating if I should go ahead and email or call the unit director to see what to do next. But I don't want to come off as aggressive or too pushy. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  6. DeLySh, Thank you so much for your quick response! I was not expecting it...and happy that you did :)!!! Recently, I received an acceptance letter from Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Nursing for the Accelerated Masters program. I am contemplating on whether I should go to LLU or not. I don't know anyone going to LLU SON....and I wanted to ask someone who has been through it..as yourself =)! Here are a few reasons for my contemplation: 1) My Protestant Christian denomination is Presbyterian...and definitely Christianity is a huge part of my life...it honestly makes up who I am today. I understand SDA somewhat because my best friend was a SDA...So I grew up in that environment. I completely respect SDA beliefs and views. But I'm wondering if that will affect my studies at LLU and my religious beliefs. I understand I will need to go to chapel every week and take a few religious studies classes...but I wonder...will LLU try to convert or make me conform....will there be any sense of pressuring? Will they force me to believe them? Or will they respect my views and let me respect theirs? If I choose to go to LLU, this will be my first experience at attending a religious private school, so not sure how everything is constructed. I went to public schools all my life. 2) I understand Sabbath and Saturday, where SDAs worship on Saturdays........and that there won't be classes or clinicals on that day. But now I'm wondering...will we have classes, seminars, conferences, clinicals, etc....that I would need to go to on Sundays? Clinicals...I figure some would occur on Sundays...and there would be no way of getting out of that since the hospital never closes. I go to church on Sundays...and wondering if it'll be a problem. 3) After graduation, wondering if I'll have a hard time finding a job at an institution that is not SDA affiliated? Such as...UCLA or Cedars-Sinai...since I would be graduating from a SDA/religious university? 4) Also, this question is specifically for you DeLySh. You said that you're still currently a student at LLU..that's now in the graduate program. Did you start off like I did? Have a B.A./B.S. and took the accelerated track? I applied for the accelerated Masters and I'm wondering how that works...because on LLU's Nursing website...I only saw a study layout similar to the accelerated Bachelors' ....and on the accelerated Masters study layout...it just states that I would start graduate courses in the 7th quarter...now from that time, how much longer do you need to graduate? Would I need to apply for the graduate program separately after I finish the Bachelors portion? Or is it assumed I begin graduate courses right away? I would appreciate ANY feedback and apologize for the ridiculously long post! I just need to make sure that I'm choosing the right graduate school for me. Unfortunately, I have till THIS COMING WEEK to decide. Talk about short amount of time, huh? THANK YOU SO MUCH!
  7. DeLysh, I emailed you about getting your opinion about LLU's nursing program. Let me know if you prefer to have me write posts on here to you. Thanks!
  8. lala25, thank you for your kind words! I thought the interview went okay, but still soooo nervous...I really want to get into CSUF's EL-MSN program...it's a wonderful program....good structure, faculty...and the cost..(a lot better than other schools...where I feel like it costs us an arm and a leg..literally). Dr. Wickman said that they have decided to give 140 applicants interviews (instead of 120)..and they should be finishing interviewing more applicants by the end of this week or early next week...but still will be sending out notification letters (acceptances, alternate lists (or waiting lists if you'd like to call them, and rejections) by the end of this month....all will be sent out on this day...so no one should get notice before hand. and dko1...thank you for your wishes and the links....I was able to look at all of them and get great resources from them...unfortunately, they were not helpful for my interview...wasn't asked any of those questions! lastly...to answer megamiepona's question...they say it's required...but they'll still take your application....if you look at the admissions criteria breakdown...attending the info session is not a component...it is definitely very helpful and beneficial...but definitely shouldn't hinder with your chance of being accepted....I personally couldn't attend any of them because i had class/work conflicts I couldn't get out...so I had a family member go for me and go the information for me.... congrats to everyone else too...and hopefully we'll all meet in person...when we're all accepted =)! (keep our fingers crossed!)
  9. Hi everyone! I'm actually going to have my interview tomorrow and I'm so nervous...anyone have any advice, suggestions? What kind of questions did they ask? Is there anything I should prepare for? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)!
