Philly area new grad pay

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

If you know what one of our local hospitals pay new grads, post it here!

I'll start: Jefferson and Methodist: 26$/hr base

Please add on!

I am from the Harrisburg area but go to nursing school in NEPA. Many of the nurses I have worked with or ran into have at some time worked in the Philly area. I have heard that most of the hospitals are good to work for in the Philly area, but the burn out rate is high. (This is why they had left) Of course most of the nurses I spoken with are from the ED or ICU areas. The only hospital that I have heard to be cautious with is Christiana Healthcare in DE.

I know the pay sound good for Crozer Health System but does anyone know how it is to work there?

Thanks

The biggest complaint I hear is having to pay for parking. My sister is a RT and works PT there, she pays around $60/mo to park, I am not sure of the rate if you are there full time. I don't know much else though. The girls I go to school with did not like it but I think it is the fact that it is clinical that not too many students like their hospitals! :)

Yuck...I make that as a LPN in the area...

I am currently getting my RN...do they take into account all your years in nursing as a LPN or do they still consider you as a brand new nurse..

Does anyone know?

PASNAP is nursing union for Crozer and most unionized facilities in SE PA:

Re transitioning from LPN to RN, each facility handles it differently. Some give credit for #yrs nursing esperience, others do not. Always try to negotiate starting wage by selling yourself and skills.

Currently the GN start rate at Crozer-Chester Medical Center is 27.48 and the start rate is 28.42. This may be the highest in the area? Next summer they go to 28.58 and 29.56 respectively. Crozer is south of the city in Chester, near Widener University. Also, I've heard they may be looking to hire a few experienced nurses over the summer with a wage up to 34.88. They have a pretty strong nurse's union there.

does anyone know the length of time that crozer - chester train their new grads. i am really interested in working in this hospital but don't know how long would they train me as a new GN

and can anyone tell us how much take home salary tends to be after city taxes and what not?

Specializes in ICU, ER.

For reference, as an RN with 12 years experience, my base in eastern Delaware County is $35 and hour, with $3.00 and $4.50 for 3-11 and 11-7. With some overtime, I make about $85k per year.

Thanks for sharing, Bill4745.

May I ask what area do you work in? ICU? ER? another area?

Specializes in ICU, ER.

ER, but these rates apply to any RN in our hospital with the same # years experience.
