CCP stands for Community College of Philadelphia, and I did think about my future when taking those classes but after dealing with the death of multiple family members I had to withdrawal from classes and even though I submitted the requested documentation the school still did not accept my withdrawals which affected my GPA. You should assume people don't take their future serious.

You should give better details with regard to your situation if you want answers that are helpful. In hindsight it might have been better to take a leave if your family life was in such upheaval.

I think you're going to have one tough row to hoe getting into a program with that GPA.

Why are you being so mean and judgemental? Have a little compassion. Everybody at some point in their life may go through a hardship or some sort of crisis and the last thing that person needs is someone kicking them when they already at their lowest. Of course aftewards, one could see many things that they could have done differently, but nobody ever makes the best decisions during a crisis.

Try to retake the classes and replace the grades. Even if you can't replace them, it will look better on your transcript to see that you retried. Also be sure to talk to your prospective schools and let them know you were.going through a rough spot family wise. That, coupled with retaking some classes may do the trick to get you into the school you want.

Hi Melanie,

What are your science grades? Have you repeated any courses?? I just want more info before I suggest anything to you.

I got in a nursing program with a 2.62 GPA, challenged two science which brought my science GPA to a 3.0, and scored on my NLN entrance exam 92%. So yes, getting into Nursing school is doable. Graduated in May, licensed in June. Start my first job in February.

Look into a diploma program with a pre-entrance exam. Doing well on the pre-entrance exam is probably your best chance. Obviously, if Philly doesn't have the schools then you should consider moving. For example, here in Pittsburgh I know of two schools that will accept 2.5 and above with an entrance exam. If you want to stick with gpa based programs, then just simply redo the classes or do better on your future science classes. My cousin just got into nursing school with a low gpa but a 91% on his TEAS.

Just wanted to give an update! I got accepted in Abington's nursing program!!! There is hope for those with low GPAs

Mel_z,

Congrats on the admission and good luck in your nursing endeavors! I too had a GPA hovering just below 3.0 due to multiple military deployments over the years but I will be attending Roxborough this fall. Good job getting accepted!
