Waiting for an acceptance letter from Pioneer Pacific College

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

I just turned in my essay, letters of recomendation, etc. I will not know if I am in or not until July 18. I am really excited because other programs near Eugene are so competive. I have been trying to get in for 3 years now an this year I applied with a 3.8 GPA.

Is anyone else waiting for a acceptance letter my the Eugene/Springfield PPC?

I just graduated from Pioneer Pacific. when you get in there are some things to REALLY pay attention.

1) the Fin Aid dept is REALLY REALLY incompantent. they made made errors to about 13 of the 18 student's fin. aid in my class and that was typical in all classes. their mistakes costed each student in the range of $2000 to $5000 ach student.

2) you will not get practial hands on experance- go to their MA open lab to learn how to actualy use inject IMs and do blood draws

Hi,

I was wondering why they wouldnt let you transfer your a&p courses. I have my financial aid meeting on Tues and would like to be prepared. After reading your posts, I am a little concerned. I have been awarded financial aid and student loans at OSU for the 2008 and 2009 school year and was hoping that this money would cover pioneer pacifics tuition once transferred, but now I am worried.

First of all they would have counted my A&P/Micro...

Here were my Grades:

AP1:B+

AP2:B

AP3:C-

Mic:B+

Now because of the the one little minus after the that one C....NONE OF THEM COUNT!

I am a single mother with two kids and I figured that Federal Aide would cover the costs of school and they said it pretty much would, but told me to secure a $5000 private loan just in case.

The problem with this is that it seems quite pointless to have a co-signer acess their credit without knowing whether or not you will actually need the loan for sure. Afterall every time you apply for something it counts as an inquiry.

I feel that they should be a little more up front about all of these things...

...a little bit later.

I found out if you are refused a loan that they will make a payment plan with you.

I am so glad you replied before I went in. I really want to go into financial aid knowledgeable about the process. This amount of money is a little nerve racking but like you I have applied to Lane twice and didnt get in so at this point I am desperate. I am just about on my way to my appointment at 1:00 and now I feel alot better about the process. What class are you going to be in, afternoon or evening?

Hi Gabby,

I am glad that I made you feel better. Are you going to have to take AP or not? I am hoping to be in the Afternoon class...how about you?

Let me know how your appointment goes.

I didnt plan on taking a and p again. I hated them the first time and dont have any desire to take them again. LOL. I did here that so much of the NCLEX pertained to A & P so that makes me a little nervous so I am on the fence. I filled out my app and paid the 50 dollars then went to financial aid and was told to have a 7000 dollar loan secured before my final financial aid meeting next wednesday. He said that I might not need all 7000 dollars but to be safe to go ahead and secure it. Ouch! Anyway I requested afternoons too! Who knows where they will put us if we get accepted. So I go for an interview with the director on Tuesday July 29th and Beth said shortly after that appointment we will find out if we are admitted. Did you already have that meeting with the director?

My meeting with the director is on Monday. I am very excited and I am hoping that I will be finish in the top 16, so I will be able to choose my time slot. I have my fingers crossed that I get in the afternoon time slot because it will fit best with the rest of my life.

Do you get some type of educational assitance from your place of employment? I get $1500 a school year, so that will be taken care of.

I just won't feel like things are completely under control until I know that I have the time slot that I want, the school is paid for, and I am sitting in class for the orientation.

I am going to PM you my home number. I would love to talk if your interested.

I am having trouble figuring out how to PM you... It looks like I can't do that with my membership. If you email me at [email protected] I will give it to you.

what ever the Fin aid office tells you what will happen take it with a grain of salt because they will later say it is/was an 'estamate' bascily saying they have a right to change the stuff at any time.

classes don't trasnfer because Pioneer Pacific doesn't have the accreadation that matchs most other school. it is not really because of the c-

Good luck to both of you!

I've been thinking about going to PPC in Wilsonville for a while now, but I just graduated as an MA from the Clackamas, so I am holding out. I look forward to hearing how your experiences are!

Specializes in oncology, trauma, home health.

I think everything there should be taken with a grain of salt, just like any nursing school.

My husband graduated from there and is now making (with full benefits) the same as a new RN at Providence. School is school, get in, get out of it what you put in, and be thankful it brought you to the point of being a nurse!
