Chemeketa Community College Applicants 2011

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Just thought I would start a thread to see who else applied to Chemeketa. We should receive our scores in the next few weeks. The suspense is hard. I also applied to OHSU's BSN program.

orcagrrrl - What is the schedule like for the first year?

I am alternate #1 and haven't heard anything yet from the school. Does anyone know how they will contact me? I've already confirmed my current info, but I am starting to become a little anxious about the program. Any information would be wonderful! Thanks so much and congrats to everyone who was accepted!

Specializes in maybe L&D or NICU.

willi4- I bought the main fundamentals book, only because I knew they would be using the same one. I read it while I was waiting to get in, but I don't feel like it helped me at all. Also, at orientation a book that was previously on the required list was no longer needed, even though I had already bought it and was unable to return it. You never know when a new edition is coming out!

gardenstt- just averages...

Fall

M Class 8-12

T Skills 9-12 or 12-3

W Tests and class 8-12

Th&F Clinicals either 6-1 (I think) or 2-830

Winter and Spring

M Class 8-12 (Skills 12-3 M or F)

T&W Clinicals 6-3 or 3-11

Th Off except for Checkoffs

F Tests and class 8-12 (Skills 12-3 M or F)

Of course almost every week is different. There were many days I was at school until 3, and clinicals ran over a lot based on your teacher...

Silverton57- I was notified via Certified Mail, I think that is what it was, I had to sign for it, that I had made it to the top five alternates. That was the only contact I had, the letter included everything I needed to do to be prepared to enter the program. As #1 you should have already received that letter, but I am assuming they would inform you if you were actually in. I would just make sure you have everything done, as if you got in.

Best of luck everyone!

Thanks again for the info....Orcagrrrl2003.

Silverton57....will you post something when you receive your notification or certified letter when you get one? That will be an indicator that maybe they are starting to offer the positions out to the alternates. I really appreciate it! I wish you luck as well as the rest of us alternates!!

I will do that! I'm not reAaAlly expecting anything until after the first week in July but I will keep you posted!

Another question, is anyone planning to work also during the school year? If so, how many hours do you think is achievable?

I'm planning on working during school and I think 20/25 hours a week is the minimum that I can get by with. Thankfully my job is flexible around my schedule!

I am keeping my part-time job of 10- 15 hrs a week.

Has anyone received their financial aid award letter? I know Chemeketa can be a bit slow with these things, but it's almost July...

That's what stinks about being an alternate...I wonder if I should appy for financial aid just to be safe. Otherwise I'm totally gonna be scrambling. Good gravy...

Garden- I applied for it even before I knew I was accepted. This was a few months ago, and I haven't heard anything.

Champ-If you are an alternate you might want to look into it. I believe they say it takes 10 weeks to process (I think). What alternate number are you? Good luck, I'm sure it's hard waiting. Hopefully, you will know soon. I'm rooting for you :)

I applied as well back in February or March and still haven't heard anything.

Have you checked your mychemeketa financial aid page? There is a form you have to submit online indicating your enrollment status. Sometimes there are other forms that need to be completed in order to get the process moving along. I had 3 items that needed to be filled out and turned in. They never notified me that there were items that I needed to complete, so if you haven't, I would check your mychemeketa page and see what the status is.
