I received an offer for NTCU last week! I do know of offers for Peds, but other than that I know nothing about other units. Good luck to those still waiting!!

No, both background checks came back the same. My expungement did not even show. They came back clear, no findings. Now as for the background check for the hospital, I do not know since the one we took for school covered the hospital as well. Honestly, I am unsure about which background check they did. For school and the one I did myself, no fingerprints were needed. For the BON it was fingerprints. I have no idea if they saw the expungement; I had no delay for my ATT or license, but I sent all the court records to them, so I don't know if it would have been a problem if I hadn't sent it. For the hospital I am working at now, I did not have to disclose my expungement based on the wording of their questions and my background check came back clear for them. There was no mention of the expungement on my record. I know that every situation and facility is different. You could always call anonymously and ask the hospital what type of background check they do and if expungements are shown. At one point I anonymously emailed a hospital to ask about needing to list my expungement because I did not want to say no and look like a liar. They responded that if I has nothing other than my expungement that I could say that I have never been convicted. It might benefit you to contact an attorney, maybe try to get a free consult. I know mine will charge me $20 to come in and meet with him if I have questions. Best of luck!

I am in Oregon but here is a bit of my experience. I started off calling the school I was going to go to. They did one background check which covered us for all facilities. You could try calling to clarify if the background check for the school covers all clinical sites. I was very open with my school, everything worked out fine but I am not sure if it was necessary to be so open. After my expungement was granted I was allowed to do a background check to see what showed on theirs as opposed to mine. This was before I had even applied to the program. I had no difficulties with school, my only hiccup was the giant pack of papers I had to send to the BON for NCLEX. But I had no problems with them either! I just got off night shift so I hope this made sense!

I got my rejection email. Knew it was coming but still a bit sad to see it. At least I still have my LPN job which I may be able to take the RN position as soon as the new hire is trained. Congratulations to any who made it!

I think it was incredibly busy for them! So many people in such a small amount of time. I too thought mine went well, but I am not getting my hopes too high at this point. I was at table 3 and my lady was incredibly nice. Having to fly all the way up here seems like a lot of work! Best of luck, hope we hear something soon!

I lurk here, don't think I have really posted much! I just wanted to give some positive news to those that need/want it. I was convicted of criminal mistreatment I in 2005 for having a dirty house. After completing probation and everything else needed, I got it dropped to a misdemeanor. As a felony it could not be expunged since it was considered child abuse, but not as a misdemeanor. The problem popped up while trying to get my expungement. Seems that there was NO misdemeanor of that crime. A few thousand dollars and court dates later, I was finally granted my expungement. I got into nursing school and passed the first year, our crazy program started at 48 and only 34 made it. So the time finally came for the NCLEX-PN. After talking to our Dean, who is also a member of the BON, my lawyer, and the BON, I sent in my application. I was ready to fight. I had all kinds of papers, recommendation letters, anything I thought might help me with the BON. They would not tell me what I needed to send in, or what the procedure was, so I just sent everything and crossed my fingers. I waited for a letter informing me I needed to appear before them or send in more information, but all I got was my ATT. I figured I would have to take and pass the NCLEX before they would tell me what to do. WOW, I had a tough time with that test, I haven't cried that hard in a long time! I passed and waited for my license. A fellow student who took the test the day before me already had her license, but mine was not popping up online. I started to prepare for what might be a long wait. There would be no point in me continuing to second year if I cannot get my license. Turns out I was stressed for nothing! I got a letter the next day, asking when I wanted my license because I would need to renew on my birthday, only a few months away. I was not sure if this meant they had looked into my history yet, so I said I wanted it now! 15 minutes later it popped up, and I am now officially an LPN. Yes, I know the hard part is finding a job, but supposedly because of my expungement it only shows to Government agencies, like the BON. I have had 3 regular checks done and it did not show up! I have had 3 job offers already, but I am taking the summer off before I get my RN. Hopefully I have a job next year at the main hospital in town, as my background check went through no problem for cooperative work experience. While my story is different because of my expungement, I just wanted to share. Best of luck to everyone, and keep faith! willi4- I bought the main fundamentals book, only because I knew they would be using the same one. I read it while I was waiting to get in, but I don't feel like it helped me at all. Also, at orientation a book that was previously on the required list was no longer needed, even though I had already bought it and was unable to return it. You never know when a new edition is coming out! gardenstt- just averages... Fall M Class 8-12 T Skills 9-12 or 12-3 W Tests and class 8-12 Th&F Clinicals either 6-1 (I think) or 2-830 Winter and Spring M Class 8-12 (Skills 12-3 M or F) T&W Clinicals 6-3 or 3-11 Th Off except for Checkoffs F Tests and class 8-12 (Skills 12-3 M or F) Of course almost every week is different. There were many days I was at school until 3, and clinicals ran over a lot based on your teacher... Silverton57- I was notified via Certified Mail, I think that is what it was, I had to sign for it, that I had made it to the top five alternates. That was the only contact I had, the letter included everything I needed to do to be prepared to enter the program. As #1 you should have already received that letter, but I am assuming they would inform you if you were actually in. I would just make sure you have everything done, as if you got in. I just wanted to say congrats to everyone! I am a first year at Chemeketa and just finished my final today! And I passed! I can give you guys my experience being an alternate. In 2008 I started as alternate #11. Towards mid August I got a letter informing me that I had made it into the top 5, so I needed to be prepared to go to orientation and the first week of class. I believe they did it the same this year, but the first five alternates go to the first week of class. That way if someone drops in that time you are ready and able to take their spot. If you are in the top five and you do not go to orientation or class, you do not get your alternate points. Only those who went but did not get in are given the five points. In 2008, I did not make it. I was next in line, but by the end of the week no one else dropped, so I had to wait until the next year. I was the only one with the extra points so I knew I was getting in! Family 'stuff' came up and I was unable to accept my position. So this year I applied again and got in. It is crazy and much tougher then I ever imagined. I went from a 3.92 GPA to being happy with an 87% in the class. I have known people in the program for the last three or four years, but I never realized how hard it was. You can do it! Just be prepared, spend summer with your family, and for Heaven's sake get some sleep! Best of luck and maybe I will see some of you in the Fall!

So here is my $0.02. I had my son at 19 and started school at 22. I qualified for all financial aid because my son made me an independent student. I have never had to include my parent info, even when I lived with them, because of being a parent myself and because my school did not require it (community college). If you really want to save your GI then try the FAFSA again! Don't know if it will work for you but best of luck! Sara Chemeketa Nursing Student Class of 2012!
