Same thing happened to me and I got a letter from the police department that verified it.

I'm sure I have to disclose everything to the BON that is why I was so curious about that" purged" driving without insurance record. I never knew I had it... I know stupidity isn't a good excuse, so maybe that clerk did me a favor.

Jory.......... thanks for commenting on my posts.... it helps a lot. You mentioned to me that the clerk should never have mentioned the driving without insurance to me and you are right... that worries me. I'm thinking it was purged or expunged because I never got in trouble for another driving issue and maybe I met some type of agreement.

OK... I know I can't get legal advice... and I know I have to disclose expunge cases... my question was... what is a purged record??? I didn't request it to be purges... I can't get documents on it, because its purged... it doesn't show up on my crimianl background checks because it is purged... what does purged mean legally...? I will get with a lawyer later..... when I'm ready, but has anyone else had a purged record and what can you tell me about it...

I'm not asking for legal advice here... but has anyone ever experienced this???? I have two theft misdemeanors on my record from 2002 that I petitioned the court for to have them expunged only 3 weeks ago..........(so they are in the process) when it occurred to me.... I should contact the court and find out how I get certified documents and the police reports on these two misdemeanors, so that I will have it in my files in the future when I need to provide it to the Board of Nurses. When BAM... she lady tells me I should also (in writing)request a letter about my purged misdemeanor from 1994... I said WHAT??????? Apparently I had a misdemeanor because I was driving without insurance when a teenager crashed into my car.... This is true... I didn't get a ticket, I didn't have to pay a fine, I didn't go to court, but I did pay the DMV $50.00 to drive to and from work for a restricted license for one year. I swear....... I never understood I had a misdemeanor. Anyway.... when I petitioned to court to expunge my 2 misdemeanors of theft I had no idea about the third one... it didn't show up on FBI or DOJ background check.... I guess because it was purged. Why is it purged???? Can I still petition for it to be expunged if it has been purged?? I know it is a good thing for employment, but can the BON see it? Has anyone else had this experience. Do I just provide the letter??? Do I need a letter. I will contact a lawyer when the time comes... but any knowledge of this from someone will help my crazy anxiety. OK...

theft can't be as bad as driving impaired and risking lifes...

So.... they hospitals will except you as long as they are expunged?

I would love to know how this turns out..... because my big question is with the hospital criminal checks, not the BON. I know the board of nurses see EVERYTHING, but does the hospital see everything to???? Can they see if it's old.. or expunged? Please.... let us know.

Can the hospital see everything on your record like the BON?

OHHHH and what about those two background checks... were they different??? Yours opposed to theirs.

Thanks... this was great. Did the clinical site do FBI or finger print background? I know be honest is the best because they don't like the dishonesty... however, no where can I find a direct answer on if the hospital background check can see expunged records. I would never with hold anything from the BON ... they get to see everything.. but I don't know if the hospitals get to see everything as well??? Because it also effects getting a job in the future... does the hospital see the same background check as other employers or can they see beyond the expudgement like the BON? Most schools will accept you then take your money when clinical doesn't accept you. I know there are so many people with various stories about what they experienced... Curious!!!

Hello, I have a question to students in the Denver area..... I have a couple misdemeanors over 10 years old for theft....EXPUNGED. I don't want to contact a lawyer right now ( I understand no one is a lawyer here) I'm NOT asking for legal advice...... Seriously..... I don't expect anyone to give me legal advice. What I'm hoping to hear is personal experiences and your story only.... not advice. I'm not asking about the BON and licensing... I know that is a case by case consideration.... I'm not asking anyone to explain to me how I must disclose everything to the BON because they will find out... I know that. I qualify to apply for nursing school.... but none of that matters if I can't get accepted into clinical around the Denver area. I know each hospital is different, I don't want to call each of them and ask right now... I'm only interested in other people experiences and the type of scenarios they experienced. I pretty sure all hospitals in the Denver area do FBI background checks,,, I could be wrong. Either way.... were YOU able to get into clinical by explaining your expunged record or did you have to mention it. What type of hoops did you go through and were you successful or unsuccessful. I like hearing other peoples stories.... I'm not looking for someone to advise me on what I need to do, because I moving forward either way... Thanks
