Applicants to Portland area schools

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Greetings fellow future nurses! I just mailed my application packets for Mt. Hood CC, Clackamas CC, and Portland CC today and excited to be done with them. I have my proctored essay for OHSU this Wednesday and am a little worried because I have NO idea what is going to be asked. I haven't been able to get any feedback on what is on any of the essays. I am also applying to Chemeketa but am probable wasting my time as I am missing 2 of the pre-recs required there that aren't required at the OCNE schools. Well, the worst they can say is no, right?

Anyway, the Oregon Nursing Programs sections has been a little dead lately so I was hoping to spark some dialogue. This is my first year applying and I'm already getting a little stressed. I kind of have a lot riding on getting in somewhere next fall. My fiance and I are kind of planning on it. I'm hoping that doesn't backfire! How's it going with everyone?

I just got my alternate letter for OHSU, and out is very frustrating that you dint know what spot you're in. the letter did say all the alternates are ranked according to prerequisite GPA, a&p grades, essay scores, and overall fit. So I guess you can kinda estimate where you might be. I wonder hire many alternates there are overall. Also you can choose to be an alternate just from the OHSU site you applied to or any of the five locations. I'm going to put that I'll accept wherever, even though obviously there are locations I'd want more than others. Some WAY more than others, but in the long run it's only 3 years. Does anyone know if they'll tell you what you got on the essay if you're an alternate?

PCC letter came today! Waitlist #18....

Ohhhhh man I just got a little sick to my stomach. PCC was by and large my best chance to get in somewhere as I took all my prereqs there AND their foreign language points were so easy to get. If I don't get in there it'll be a sign I think. Sucks, we used to get the mail around 10-11 am, but ( right before nursing letters started to come ) the local post office changed the routes so now we get mail around 5pm. Arrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

I got in to PCC! I'm shaking I'm so excited. Here's to everyone else also getting good news.

Waitlisted at PCC @ #33. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get accepted right off the bat but I'm pretty hopeful that I will get in once CCC sends out interview letters.

I got my acceptance letter to PCC today as well. I am declining the spot as I also found out on Saturday that I got in to the OHSU - Portland BSN program.

Good luck to you waitlisters and congrats to those who get good news today.

Hang in there Portland Medic...I know of a few people that are going to decline PCC invites. So even if you get waitlisted, you have a great chance to get in!

Yay nwnursing! Congrats. I got waitlisted but it's ok because I got accepted to Mt Hood and have CCC this Friday (fingers crossed). But that's awesome. I know I broke into tears, literally, when I got my acceptance from Mt. Hood. All the hard work has paid off!!! Time to celebrate!

Hi all, I got my PCC letter today as well. I got accepted into their program but I am pretty sure that I will decline my spot as well and head to OHSU. Congrats to all getting good news today and hang in there for those of you on the wait list. Good luck to all. :)

I got accepted to PCC!!!!! Woohooooooo!!!!! Congratulations to everyone who got in! And to those who got alternate spots, there's two people on this page already that are opening up spots for you so you still have a great chance at getting in! Also I will be declining my interview for Clackamas Community College now, so that might open up a potential spot there as well. Good luck to those who are waiting!!!!

Congrats portland medic!!! Enjoy the feeling of the giant weight of getting in to school being lifted off you - just before the giant weight of actual nursing school stress descends. :)

Yay!! Got my PCC acceptance today!! I'm going to be the oldest nursing student ever! (56) Yikes! Thank you God!!
