Cervical Dilator (1800s)

This instrument was used to dilate a woman's cervix during labor, with the amount of dilation measured on the scale by the handle. Such dilators fell out of favor because they often caused the cervix to tear.

Ooooohhhh!!! First thought that crossed my mind was the same as you guys "I'm glad I'm not a male!" The the next pic, and ... Well, I can't even explain what I thought then, because it would be very very ugly. YUCK!!!!!

Interesting site. Theres another section on people who performed surgery on themselves which is pretty gruesome.
