WGU Texas (Dallas) PreLis. BSN May 2014 Entry

Nursing Students Western Governors

Published

Okay so I haven't heard much or have I been able to find much information on how this program works. I just got off the phone with an Advisor and here is the run down for this upcoming cohort.

They have new cohorts every 6-9 months depending on clinical sites. Right now they use only one clinical site in Rowlette. They are working on another one. They accept 10-12 students per cohort. That will increase as clinical sites increase.

The length is 2.5 years with NO breaks at $4500 roughly/term. Each term is 6 months and there are 5 terms. So about $22,500 total

1st term is Intro to nursing and is all online

2nd-5th terms are online/Lab/Clinic

Labs are held at Community Colleges in Dallas

Clinic is in Rowlette mostly 5-7 12 hr shifts in a 2 week period and this happens every 3 months

Right now you have to have everything in by March for the May 1st start date.

Required:

Teas V can take 2x in a 12 month period

Micro

A&P 1,2

CPR

Resume- professional and detailed

Statement 1-2 pages

2 recommendations from a template they give you

They require a pharmacology but can be taken with them and not a pre-req.

They also require a Biochemistry which you can transfer in but it has to say BIOCHEMISTRY on your transcript or you can take with them. Not a pre-req

(there are other required social science and most of the other pre-reqs are accompanied by a BA/BS degree. They also accept a AS/AA degree as well.

Now here is the catcher! ALL OF THE SCIENCES (A&P1,2 and Micro) must be done ...nothing in progress by march. So basically if you are taking anything this spring you might as well wait till next cohort because its not happening for you haha

Hope that helps some...

Not yet either. My enrollment counselor, Spencer, told me "anytime". I also was told there are 11 of us in this cohort. I'm looking forward to starting.
