I first heard of Walden University about 2 weeks ago from my co worker. A little nervous about applying because Ive never hear baout it before. Looking for a FNP program to attend that dosent cost an arm and a leg. How is the program for anyone that is already attending.
Have you ever heard of La Salle University in Philadelphia? Probably not...I completed my undergrad there(BSN), and it is one of the top private schools in the country. I have been thinking much about this topic and before I met my fiance, she went to Waterloo University in Ontario(one of the top schools in all of Canada), which is internationally known but I never heard of it in my life. HAve you ever heard of either school?

SO, that doesn't say much. I have never heard of Walden up until a few years ago, but I do know several nurses who are in management roles now that went to Walden at my facility. I was just accepted to start in Dec for the FNP program and I am actually transferring out of a brick and mortar school to Walden. I work with three nurses who are are in online FNP programs and the Adult Acute NP who I work with at our facility also went to an online school(that I have never heard of) and had no problems finding a job.

For anyone who might care or wonder....I found out an interesting fact about Walden U today. It is ranked 2999 of over 20,000 schools and universities worldwide. Check out Webometric and see for yourself. It was ranked only 150 below my undergrad school, which is one of the top BSN programs in Philly.

Classes start in December for me. Any thoughts or advice from current students or students starting in December welcomed!!

    cheers!

    Hey Everyone,

I am looking at Walden for NP program, just not quite sure which one. My love and most recent experience is in Geriatrics but am concerned that I may be too exclusive for employment opportunities after graduation. Any thoughts? Also, does anyone has attrition rates for course completion and pass rates for IL?

Well it is an Adult/Geriatric so its not terribly exclusive. I am in the program right now for AGNP. This is a brand new program, so pass rates for this specific program are not available yet as no one has graduated from it. I started Sept. 4th. It was unavailable in my state (Maryland) when I decided to go to Walden this summer. So, I was in the MSN-Education program and took a few classes in that field first. When Maryland was approved I jumped into it! It seems as though most compact states have approved Walden's NP programs. I have enjoyed this College experience much more than my BSN, which was at a private college (who lost their accreditation by the way) and I have seen a real difference in quality. This program is very regimented, which I like. I start the Advanced Patho class at the end on November, and I'm quite curious how that is going to be handled. My brother was taking MSN classes at Walden, which is how I learned about it. I never heard of it before then. Where I was working offered a tuition discount as well. I have no complaints about Walden right now....its a been a good experience so far.
