TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

The titers are to prove you have immunity. It's for our clinicals, the hospitals require them now. I have both variecilla dises, but my titers came back with low immunity.

yea I know, but if you look at the MMR requirements, it asked for titer and vaccination. It says AND not OR. So my understanding is that we need both ...? The problem is I already have immunity to MMR, it just doesn't make sense to me.

Its asking you to provide your shot record for it as well as titer... i guess to prove you didn't have it and the acquired immunity is from vaccines? Idk, call them clarify.

Yea I already have immunity to MMR but I got it when I was young so I lost the record. I was thinking I might have to get MMR shots again..

They are able to test if it is low immunity too? Interesting.. Do you have to get the shots again?

If you show immunity then you are fine, no need for your shot records. In fact, I got my titers before they started requiring them (we had options for records or titers last year) simply because I have no idea were my shot records are. For you repeating the shots would be a waste of time and money.

And yes, you can show a result to the titer, but not have immunity (below immunity threshold). If that is the case, you will have to get the shot(s) again - depending on what your doctor thinks is the best course.

I have to get my varicella shot again but everything else is fine.

Great! thank you for the info root.user I was thinking the same thing. It would be waste of money.

Received my denial letter yesterday for TWU Houston. Good luck to everyone!

Has anyone received an email about the criminal background checks?
