Is anyone enrolled in the DNP program at Touro University Nevada? I would like to know what you think of the program. Is it doable if you work full time? Do you receive adequate faculty support?Any and all information would be appreciated. I am looking for a DNP program that can be completed exclusively online in a short amount of time.]Touro Universities DNP degree can be completed in as little as 12 months according to the information posted online.

I've also looked into their program and am interested in responses.

I am currently in the DNP program. I work more than full time, consider myself a good student, and have found it doable. It is very intense, I've learned alot. Faculty support is OK. If you are not a self-starter and disciplined, it will be difficult to do. The cost is very decent, also.

I took the plunge and applied....waiting on a decision from admission committee which meets mid-January.

I am also looking into Touro Univeristy for a DNP. If I can ask, does it bother anyone that is does not have CCNE accreditation and does anyone plan to use their DNP to teach?

The DNP does not have CCNE because CCNE does not accredit programs with a strictly educator focus. I just got accepted, and start in March. I was also accepted at Chatham, but declined the offer for other reasons.

I will also be joining the March cohort. I was looking at this program or Chatham, but Touro seemed like a better program to me, so I am choosing Touro.

It seems like a good program, and the fact that it is only 12 months is the biggest appeal to me. I don't understand why other programs are 2-3 years long for an MSN prepared nurse.

I am calling Touro in the am to learn more about the DNP program. I don't understand why CCNE does not accredit DNP educator programs.

You went to , correct? Were you able to count any of the hours you invested in your MSN capstone project for Touro's 1,000 hr requirement?

I'm looking at Touro also. How is the practicum requirement? Has anyone had any trouble with completing this. I live in Nevada but travel nurse half of the year so I'm not quite sure how that would work.

Bump - interested in more responses :)

Bumping this thread. I started in March and just completed my first, six-credit course. Wow! Pace a little frantic at first while you get used to it- but after the first two weeks it settles down.

To the poster who asked about practicum hours- Touro gave me credit for 288 practicum hours in my MSN program. I was VERY pleased, as I thought I would get ZERO credit. (And that was the 'old' MSN program- if you took the 'new' MSN, you could get even more credit than I !)

My practicum mentor is actually 1000 miles away in Salt Lake City! You can complete practicum hours a variety of ways - including partially through doing lit reviews. So you should be OK traveling part of the time.
