TAMUCC ELine BSN (Fall 2016)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and just getting used to things, but I have some important questions for fellow nursing school applicants.

I have applied to TAMUCC online BSN program. I am from the DFW area and am a little concerned about getting placed for clinical rotations. I spoke with a woman on the phone who said it is possible to not get placed in DFW for clinicals (meaning travel to another metroplex.) This might be okay if I knew how many days a week we had to attend rotations and how long they lasted. Is it two days a week for six weeks, 3 days for 4 weeks, etc.

If anyone has any info on clinicals that would be very helpful!

Also, has anyone else applied to this program? And if so what area are you from? Any idea on when we'll hear back about acceptance/interviews? Thanks in advance, looking forward to hearing from y'all!

:)

I took my HESI yesterday and just submitted my completed application for the Fall 2016 semester. I'm in San Antonio and heard about the program through a coworker of my husband's who is a graduate of the TAMUCC Eline program. She said that she did all of her clinicals at University hospital, although it is the responsibility of the student to set up and schedule all clinical rotations. I hope that you find something close to you. The convenience of an online program isn't as great when you have to travel for hours each week just to go to clinicals.

I also applied at UTHSCSA for the same semester and am waiting to hear back. Rumor has it that acceptance letters for Eline will be sent April-May(ish). I've heard of some applicants having to interview and others who said that they did not and were still accepted.

I have been looking for statistics on GPAs and HESI scores for previous Eline semester admittance and was unable to find any information. I just kinda want to see what chances I have of getting accepted...

Let me know if you hear of anything. Good luck!

Hi! I also applied for the Fall 2016 eLine program. I am from San Antonio, TX. I spoke with the temporary eLine advisor, before they hired the current one, and was told that we should hear something around April. I cannot find anything as far as the average GPA or Hesi scores for admitted students. I'm really curious!

The only information I found as far as clinicals was on another board. They just said that you couldn't do more than two days in a row. If you find out/hear anything else, let me know. By the way, what area of DFW are you from? We used to live in Ft. Worth.

Hi MandaLeigh210! I am in San Antonio as well! If I don't get in to TAMUCC, I will be applying to UTHSCSA in July for next Spring. Good luck with everything!!!

Hey marvssa03!

The eline program is my first choice but I also applied to UTHSCSA for the fall of 2016 as a backup. We are supposed to hear back by March 18th.

Keep me updated if you hear anything from A&M and I'll do the same.

Hoping that we both get some good news soon!

I'm in my first semester at TAMUCC and I live in DFW. Yes, DFW is one of the hardest regions to get placed for clinicals. However, they have a hospital in Gainesville and one in Waco. I should hear after spring break about clinical placement, but everyone else in the program already has their placement....except me. So I'm guessing I couldn't get placed here [emoji52]. I'll let y'all know more once I hear. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

In very anxious to hear about your placement adcinhae! Most people I've talked to aren't from DFW so I'm hoping if I get in, there won't be too many of us in this area needing to be placed. We will see. I'm excited to hear back from you.

maryssa03, I'm about 40 miles south of Dallas in Waxahachie! I'm hoping if I get in I can get placed close to DFW, that's what I'm most nervous about! Also an advisor emailed me while reviewing my application. I didn't include the two nursing prereqs on my application, so that was a whole crisis I had to deal with fortunately she noted my intent to take the courses on my application. I'm so nervous and ready to get acceptance letters, ugh!

Also what's up with drug testing for the program? I have no reason to worry or anything lol, but I was just curious about the process. Do you think we will have to set up an appointment or anything? Anyone know how it works?

Hi all! I am applying for the program and live in Temple (off 35, between Austin and Waco). I am waiting to get into the actual school first, hopefully should hear something soon. This will be my second Bachelors (first was in biology). Need to take 4 pre-requisites, but should be good to get into the Spring 2017 session.

Madisongrinn,

They actually said the more people there are in DFW, the easier it is to get placed because they can group everyone together.

The drug test you will have to do after acceptance. They will send a packet with the acceptance letter that will have directions for everything you will need to do.

Also, regardless of what nursing school you go to, you will need to be up to date on your immunizations. If you are not up to date or if you don't have proof of them (which was my case), start working on it now. You can use positive titers or redo the immunizations. Hep A and Hep B require a series so those are the ones that are important to get started.

Well in that case I hope many of us from DFW get accepted, lol! Awesome, thanks for the info. I had a list of required immunizations from a different nursing program that I used to update my shots, so I should be good to go.
