TAMUCC ELine BSN (Fall 2016)

Published

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and just getting used to things, but I have some important questions for fellow nursing school applicants.

I have applied to TAMUCC online BSN program. I am from the DFW area and am a little concerned about getting placed for clinical rotations. I spoke with a woman on the phone who said it is possible to not get placed in DFW for clinicals (meaning travel to another metroplex.) This might be okay if I knew how many days a week we had to attend rotations and how long they lasted. Is it two days a week for six weeks, 3 days for 4 weeks, etc.

If anyone has any info on clinicals that would be very helpful!

Also, has anyone else applied to this program? And if so what area are you from? Any idea on when we'll hear back about acceptance/interviews? Thanks in advance, looking forward to hearing from y'all!

:)

madisongrinn, I've been through Waxahachie a time or two :)

I got the same email for doing the same thing. I just figured that those two prerequisites were kind of known and I didn't need to include them since I don't have any transcripts showing I was enrolled. I emailed the advisor, and spoke to her on the phone, and she said she just put a note on my application. Hopefully it doesn't make too big of a difference with including/not including those two.

From working EMS and doing the tech thing in the hospital, I'm hoping that I can just get titer tests done for my shots. If there is anything at unacceptable levels, then I will get them then.

I am a bit nervous about acceptance as this is the only program I applied to for fall. If I don't get in, I will have to wait another semester before starting somewhere else. UTHSC and UIW in San Antonio will be my next two applications if I'm not accepted.

Just spoke with an Eline advisor who said that acceptance letters will be sent out via USPS the first or second week of April, so we're in the home stretch!

I got my acceptance letter to UTHSCSA (my backup school) a few days ago and they now require a non-refundable $500 fee by April 15th to secure your seat in the program. I'm hoping that we hear back from A&M before I make that expense.

Good luck to everyone!

Hey MandaLeigh210, congrats! However, eeeeeeeek! That will be cutting it close for the non-refundable fee deadline. I couldn't imagine putting that much down, then getting into your first choice. I hope we hear something before then. We're in SA, so hopefully the mail won't take too long :) Thanks for the update!

Got an email from TAMUCC asking me to sign financial responsibility forms for Summer/Fall 2016 and Spring 2017.

Maryssa03, did you receive the email as well?

Yes ma'am, I received those yesterday. I'm trying to figure out the financial stuff just in case. For whatever reason my fafsa did not go through when it was supposed to, and Monday they said they would have to manually pull my info. I hope everything gets figured out soon.

Thought I'd just leave an update on what has happened so far:

1) I'm sure we all received the email about enrollment starting the first week of April, I was wondering if anyone knew some specific info about the prereqs as S.A.I.L. is down again (surprise, surprise!) So in the Summer term there are 2 parts, Summer I and Summer II, I was wondering if we can take health alterations in Summer I and Patho in Summer II/vice versa, or will we have to take both prereqs at the same time in Summer I. Sorry that's kind of wordy, but I hope we can take them separately and not at the same time, and info would be appreciated!

2) Has anyone heard about Summer financial aid? I had to recently fill out a form to award me only for summer, and I am SUPER nervous about it going through. If it doesn't I'll be paying out of pocket for the two prereqs...is anyone else in this situation?

3) Lastly, any others from the DFW area applying? :)

Hey madisongrinn! Yes, I got the email as well. When I went to lookup the schedule, I looked at summer I and it seems that the classes go from May through Aug. I don't recall seeing any that were cut into Summer I and II.

I called to check on my financial aid the other day and was told there was a glitch in the system, so they had to manually pull it. They didn't do that until Thursday. I called today to check and was told I needed to go online and submit a request form for a summer loan. I know we didn't get any grants this year, but I am hoping I can get a loan for summer. If not, I will have to pay out of pocket as well.

Here's to hoping there are some other DFW candidates!

adcinhae Did you ever hear back about your clinical placement?

I haven't been able to access SAIL in the past few days...

Does anyone know what the out of pocket cost is for the 2 pre-reqs?

If I'm not mistaken, the 6 hours should be around $2000. I believe there's a breakdown chart on the business page :)

Y'all, I just got called for an interview!! It'll be next week on the 7th at 10am. Apparently I will have to set up the interview on a website and instructions will be given later on.

Has anyone else gotten a call? If so, let's keep eachother updated on instructions as I am very nervous lol! Also does anyone know what to expect in ththe interview? I am so excited but so nervous, I hope this means I'm one step closer to getting accepted!!

I got a call for an interview as well. Mine is on April 6th at 10am. I'm really nervous, so I'm hoping it all goes well. There must have been a good pool of applicants! I read on another board that some just get acceptance letters. I have a really high gpa, but only made a 91 on my hesi since I had not taken micro yet. My ct was in the 900's which I thought was decent too. I haven't received any emails regarding the web ex or how it works yet. I'm hoping to get some instructions soon!!!
