San Jac Central ADN Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for those who plan on applying to San Jac Central's ADN Program for Fall 2017. I know applications aren't being accepted yet, hopefully they'll post dates soon, it says "to be announced" on one protion of the website, and then it says Feb 2-April 2 on another portion.

As for me, I'm eager and ready, done with all prereqs and my Hesi. Here are my scores:

Comp I: C (Failed it years ago and retook recently and made an A)

Psychology: A

AP1: B

AP2: A

Micro: B

Overall GPA 3.22

Hesi A2 Exam: 89.6% overall, planning to retake the exam to see if I can do even better.

How did everyone do? Best of luck, hopefully we will be studying together come August!

I also plan to apply to Alvin but doubt I'll get in because they are so selective.

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools / Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

My nursing application score is a 22 and my HESI A2 is a 82 composite score for the average. I am applying to BSN and ADN programs, so I am just keeping my options open. Nursing is also my second degree. I graduated from SHSU in December 2016 with my BS. God bless everyone that is applying!

I'm going to be applying soon. All I need to do is complete my drug screen and then I'll be ready to submit my application! Super excited! Good luck everyone!

Good luck! Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can still apply even if all your Castlebranch stuff isn't complete as long as it's complete by the end of the application period, right? I've already dropped my application off and will be completing all my Castlebranch stuff as soon as I get the money for insurance and titers (I wish we only had to do that stuff if we were accepted) How was your rubric score?

I'm disappointed that they are using the overall GPA in part of the rubric because I was in school several years ago and my GPA was really bad back then, since I decided to be a nurse and got back into school I've made only A's and a couple B's.

You are right, we can apply without that. I just haven't made it over to the school yet. I figured I'd make sure everything is done first since we have until April 3rd. I think I'll be making the trip over there to drop off my application on Monday. My rubric score is 24 because I'm currently completing micro.

Hi all! I'm also applying for Fall 2017. My rubric score is 22 because I am still completing micro (currently have an A, but man, is it hard!), but I have a 4.0 otherwise and my Hesi composite score is 92. Any ideas as to whether or not this is competitive enough? Like the rest of you, I'm worrying so much about whether I'll be a FT nursing student in August or not!

Good luck to all of you!!!

I think you stand a great chance of getting in.

Anyone else a little irritated at how complex the application process is? I needed to get a few shots and didn't have health insurance so I had to do that which costs me a lot of money I don't have (I don't understand why most of this stuff couldn't be done once formally accepted into the program instead of just to apply, doesn't make sense to me)

I'm going to retake my Hesi next week to see if I can get an even better score because I'd much prefer to get into Alvin but would be happy with San Jac as well so I want to try to do better in case that helps me.

I applied as well. Annoyed is an understatement. Wow, I feel like I have been running around town the last two weeks trying to get everything done. I didn't realize that the Central campus was close enough to me to make it worth applying. ACC is my first choice, but with how small of a group they have each semester, I need to broaden my chances. I had a really hard time finding a place to take the HESI since I took it at Alvin, but they do not require the critical thinking section like San Jac and HCC. Good luck to everyone, it seems getting into a program is going to be harder than school! I didn't attend an information meeting, so I hope I have everything I need when I turn in my application tomorrow.

Here are my stats:

AP I-A

AP II-A

Micro-B

Overall GPA 3.85

HESI 92

Critical thinking 970

Great scores! I retook my Hesi the other day to try to improve my score just a little to better my chances of getting into Alvin (now that I see what other people mean when they say San Jac is unorganized) and now have an overall score of 92. Anytime I have called or emailed San Jac with questions I never get a response and nobody answers the phone. It's irritating! I doubt I'll get into Alvin but I can hope lol. Are you able to apply to San Jac without attending a meeting? I thought they were mandatory but I could be wrong. Does San Jac require critical thinking? I hope not because I didn't even have that option on the Hesi. I've been running around town like a chicken with my head chopped off as well trying to finish my Castle Branch stuff. It's so annoying that they make applicants do ALL of that instead of those who are accepted into the program that way they have time to do it over the summer before the courses begin and those who aren't accepted aren't throwing away hundreds of dollars because I just dropped a few hundred dollars getting health insurance that I can't afford and will never use.

Let me know how you do! It'd be nice to connect with a fellow applicant, I moved from out of state recently and don't have many friends! Let me know if you want to be facebook buddies or something! Good luck to you!

Hey! I do not think the critical thinking section is required for San Jac. I needed it for HCC. On San Jacs HESI test info it does say that the critical thinking section is not used to determined for acceptance. Where did you take your HESI and what school code did you use? If at San Jac and it was on there I would not worry at all.

I did email the nursing department to ask about when there would be some information meetings in March, and she replied back that there would not be any and that I did not need to attend one to apply. I kept that email just in case I will need it! I would have loved to attend one because I am nervous I will miss a step and be disqualified for some technicality. Speaking of technicalities and $$$ I took my BLS CPR at Red Cross last week only to find out that it had to be from American Heart for San Jac, super fun to do that class twice in one week ... not to mention the cost and time factor. I would be so happy and forget all this hassle if only I could get one of those emails in a few weeks ha ha.

Where did you move from? We moved here this summer as well. I don't have enough posts to be able to use PM to give you my email/facebook. If you do though send me your info, I'd love to connect! Hold your head high, you have great scores, I will be saying a prayer for both of us! W

OH no! That class was unbearable enough just one time I can't imagine twice! Add me on Facebook and send me a message! Search for Rachel Nelson in Webster, TX. My cover picture hasn't two kids in a black and white filter and my profile picture is just me cheezin lol. IF you can't find me email me [email protected]
