Hey! I just submitted my application for the fall 2018 GEM program at Rush, and I thought I'd start a new thread where applicants can compare stats, share thoughts, and/or ask questions.

I'm new here, but it looks like there's some great information in previous GEM threads. If the timeline is the same as last year's, interviews should take place in early February 2018, and decisions should be made by early March. For what it's worth, it looks like several people received invitations for interviews at Rush within 48 hours after their application status changed to "verified" on the NursingCAS portal last year.

Best of luck everyone! Going to go collapse now

Hey! There are two threads going for this. Did you receive an interview invite? What are your stats if you dont mind me asking

Hey! My application was finally "verified" this afternoon, but I'm still waiting on a couple letters of recommendation to be submitted-- two of my former professors wanted to write them over Christmas break before the deadline. Hopefully they'll be in by the end of the week. Did you get an invite to interview before all of your letters were submitted?

I'm currently volunteering in a hospital helping patients walk after surgery, but I don't have much clinical experience. I have a 3.8 undergrad GPA and 4.0 on my prerequisites. Feel free to share your stats too, if you want. Hope this helps!

Just wanted to post an update-- my final letter of recommendation was submitted this morning, and I received an invite to interview shortly after!

In case this is useful information for anyone else, I guess transcripts need to be verified on NursingCAS AND all letters submitted before invitations to interview are sent. Maybe that's pretty obvious, but my anxieties around applying were making me second-guess everything :-)

Congrats!

I had an overall GPA of 3.3. I jumped around to a lot of schools and didnt do so well my first couple years of college. Not sure what my exact prereq GPA was. I had maybe one or two B's. I do have a lot of healthcare experience and some research experience. I currently work for a pulmonary practice and have about 2,000 hours.

I might be giving up my spot at rush though, I just heard from Johns Hopkins and was accepted. The thing I'm a little weary about is that JHU NCLEX pass rate is only 89%, where Rushs' pass rate is 97%.

Wow, congrats!! The nursing program at Johns Hopkins is supposed to be great! Best of luck with your decision-- with all of your healthcare experience, I'm sure you'll succeed in any program you choose. :-)

I just applied last night and got my interview invitation just now. Does anyone know if Rush interviews all applicants without sorting through them first?

And so the wait begins.... í ½í¸¬ Is anyone else planning on going to the first look? I'm planning to fly in from WA to interview (presumably on the 16th?, no official word yet) and stay an extra day. I would love to connect with anyone that's going to be around!

I will attending the first look for sure. Not sure when the exact day for my interview will be. I think they will be nailing that down in the next week or so.

Very cool! Has anybody received the follow-up email about scheduling an interview yet?

I have not yet, I keep checking my email!

Got the email this morning, my interview will be on the 19th.
