Hello everyone,

I couldn't find any threads for spring applicants for Moorpark's ADN program. Anyone else apply for the upcoming semester? And if so, have you taken the TEAS/been invited for the test?

Hi there,

I took my TEAS on Oct. 7th and waiting to hear back. I know the final group is taking their test today (14th), so we'll find out soon. From reading past posts, it seems like maybe the week of the 24th they'll start sending acceptance letters out via certified mail.

Hello,

It looks like they may actually call the applicants instead (prior to mailing out acceptance letters) since the orientation is in the first week of November according to one of the test proctors. Did you score well on the TEAS? And if you don't mind me asking, what was your overall score based on the multicriteria selection process?

That would be nice if they called people so you don't have to sit at home all day waiting. Overall I got a 80.7% overall. Not sure how I did comparable but I'm staying positive. God's timing is best. How did you all do?

I mean a 80.7% overall on the TEAS.

I scored a 88 on the TEAS. I'm wondering what the average TEAS score was and the average overall score of applicants that get accepted. Is Moorpark your first choice?

I also applied for the upcoming Spring 2017 semester. I took my TEAS in MC. I didn't do as well as I would have liked and as well as I did it at practice tests, but according to MC point system I have 22 from 30 points with 80% total average score. I didn't do well with reading, but math and science were > 90%. According to my calculation, I can have 63 points plus 22 points, total 85.

I made some research based on the Spring 2016 semester. There were some members who shared their results and confirmed their acceptance, which started from 76 points. It would be great if you can share your results. It's quite complicated to predict the exact minimum for each semester because it's based on the individual achievement of each student, but at least we can track our acceptance and help future students ))

Yes, I think it was difficult to gauge how well the prep books were written since this version of the test is so new. Which book/books did you use to prepare for the test? I also scored better on the math and science than the english language and reading portions. I have a 89 overall score, so I'm hoping that means I get accepted into the program. Did you apply for other programs as well?

I guess you don't need to worry at all - 89 is a very high score. Last time when I spoke with a counselor, I tried to find out what was the minimum average acceptance score for Moorpark in the previous semesters. As I understood, it varied between 70 and 80 depending on the semester. Is Moorpark your first choice? As for this semester, Moorpark is my the only choice. It's risky, but I hope it will work.

I used several books to prepare for TEAS. I hope that my short review will help somebody else, so here we go:

- ATI TEAS 5 - it was the only book which I had from the beginning. I really liked it. It's informative, but some topics are not relevant to TEAS 6. I still would recommend it for reading, math (partially), English (very good) and science (only A/P part).

- ATI TEAS 6 - I would say it's more like a study guide which still doesn't cover all necessary topics for current TEAS 6. $50 is pretty expensive for a book that recommends to go online, find something on your own or make your own research almost in every chapter. It's very general but still has some useful information in reading, math and science parts. As for English you need to find something else. Practice test is the best part of this book.

- Mometrix Study Secrets - this book is highly recommended on Amazon and some forums, but I didn't like it very much. Sometimes I needed more explanation or visualization. I tried to use their videos, but it was completely the same info as in the book. The best part is 3 full practice tests.

- ATI TEAS Study Guide by Accepted,Inc. - I like this book more than Mometrix because of the detailed examples in every chapter. It has 2 practice tests as well.

- Anatomy textbook - this is my recommendation for A/P part. I used the old 5th edition of Marieb which I bought on Ebay for $6. It has all you need for anatomy and some physio processes which is enough for TEAS

- Free online TEAS practice tests. Here is one of them - Free Practice Test for the TEAS

So every source has it's own pros and cons. Unfortunately, I didn't find a single book for TEAS preparation.
