Hi, I applied to Montefiore School of Nursing, in Mount Vernon New York for the January 2015 term! I was wondering if anyone else has applied yet!!! I submitted all required documents and application and am just waiting to see if I am invited to take the TEAS!!!

Just got the list, its a ton of books, I'm not sure which optional books I"m going to get just yet. Did you take a look at the required readings before class?! I'm assuming for orientation we can show up in regular clothing, correct?

Oooooh yes!!! I saw those chapters! Lol. I would like to start like NOW! But seems like the book hasn't came out yet. They say we will get copies until the book comes out. My question is, when will we be getting those copies? We have to read that before the first day of class, right? Lol. I don't want to rush trying to get the reading done. It will be great if we can get them now! lol.

I also assume for orientation wearing regular clothes will be ok.

I was actually wondering the same thing, I'll call the professor thats on the sheet tomorrow and let you know what she says. Which optional books do you plan on getting? I was tempted to just get all of them but that's: 1) a ton of money and 2) some books seem to have similar information to others.

I'm happy you found CPR Dave! He was great! Yes omg I just saw the list today!!!!!!!!! I highly suggest you guys look at Chegg.com! You can rent almost all of the books for a fraction of the price!!!!!! I always rent my books from them and they are great!!! I know I hope they give us the copies soon because I want to start!!! So much work to do in about a month!!! And yes regular clothes for orientation!!!

I was thinking about chegg too but I think we have books that we will be using for a year. I wonder if for the whole two year. If that is the case, I would like to know which are the ones that way I know which to rent and which to buy...!

Thank you, Enfermera! I was looking at prices online yesterday and ended up with a headache! Lol. Just the must have books add to 1K! Lol. Yikes!

I work full time, I have a barnes and noble by work. I'll try to go too.

I'm also excited about starting the program! Just worried about all that reading lol.

Guys, so guess what? I had a patient at work today who was a Professor at our school until 2011. She now teaches at Monroe College. She used to teach dosage at Hopfer. Anyways, I asked her about the optional books they gave us and she recommended to get the first 6. The last two she said we can always go back to our nutrition and A&P books for resource, the library or online.

The NCLEX-RN book is a must! A friend of mine that goes to Cochran said the professors take questions out of that book for tests. This professor I met today confirmed it.

If you notice the ones with 1 star next to it, you can get it in PDA. She said she used to let her patients use cell phone to look up definitions from them during clinicals.

This wonderful patient just told me one more thing! She said we really don't need the medical dictionary which is the second one on the list. She said we can use our smartphones but she did say wait until the 3rd week of class. If our professor don't let us use smartphones to look up definitions on google, then get it. So for now, I will hold off on that one!

Sorry for the late reply, the system doesn't notify me when people respond to the thread. I called the professor and left a voice message but I haven't heard back as of yet. I'm glad you bumped into that professor, now we have some idea of what books to get. :) I'm not sure if renting will work for us because I think the top of the book list said that we would be using the books throughout the program. If anything we can check half.com and get used/new books. Anyway, keep my updated guys!!! Cant wait to meet you in January! :)

Hi guys!!! That's what I thought too. It said we will be using them through the nursing program. We gotta find out! I'm gonna try to give them a call today.

Yea, it was pretty cool I bumped into that professor. Lol. But I was hoping for her to say you just need 3 optional books lol.

Anyways, I'm glad I was able to get some info for us!

Can't wait to meet you guys in January too! I'm just a little concern about all that reading lol.

Also, you can activate notifications. On the top left, there are like 4 lines, tap that and look for notifications, tap t and then u can activate them! :)
