Hello fellow MSON students!

I just completed Nursing 1 and like you I was so very nervous prior to beginning. Here is my advice:

1. Please pre-read prior to the beginning of the semester (I didn't and regret it still)

2. Take notes as you read (this is useful to follow along with in class)

3. Fundamentals Success by Patricia M Nugent is a great BUY!!!

4. Most of all...........Congrats and ENJOY.......I had a great experience and am looking forward to Nursing 2

I wasn't ignoring anyone!!! mkct84...that is great that you ran into an old professor!!! so cool! thank you for the information! that is exactly what I felt about the AP optional book...that I can just use my old AP textbook. I called the school and they said that this book list is in fact for the entire two years, so I guess renting is out of the question. I did find a few books to be a bit cheaper at barns and noble. I am not sure if you guys are members at barns and noble but even if you aren't you should subscribe to their emails and they send like 25% off coupons almost every other week. if you are a member you get an extra 10% off. So I bought the nurses pocket guide: diagnoses, prioritized intervention and rationales at barns and noble and got it for 35% off. I also bought the NCLEX-RN notes: content review and exam prep for 10% off. I went online when I got home and ordered the last three books on the required list from barns and noble as well and used their coupon code for friends and family, I think its still online! the rest of the required books I just bought from where it was suggested to buy them on the sheet because of the coupon codes that where provided.

I am just wanting the books so I can start! Less than a month ahhhh. Excited to meet all of you!!!

Soooo, how strict do you think they are regarding all white sneakers? I like comfortable shoes if I'll be on my feet all day and this is the closest to all white I can find.

I thought the same thing. I want something comfortable. I have never owned i pair of all white sneakers but I know Nike makes a model in all white because I bought my bf a pair last year for Christmas lol. But they don't look to comfortable to like wear all day. Did you guys see the change on the book list? Did u get them all? I was thinking to wait for my financial aid money to purchase all the books but I don't know if I should just start buying it. What are the chapters we have to read on the book they changed?

Hey guys,

I ordered the books and received all except 2. For the book that they changed we have to read 1,2,3,4,8,23,26,30,32,and 35. As for the sneakers, I ordered an all white pair of Nike running sneakers (my favorite) which should be good enough. I've looked at the nursing shoes and even tried a pair on at a store in Queens, they are heavy and uncomfortable. Merry Belated Christmas and Happy New Year when it arrives. I need to order my stethoscope, did you guys get that already? Anything else let me know.

Wait, homework? I thought it was just reading. We have actual homework or are you referring to the quizzes for chapters 1-9 in the Pharmacology book? Don't scare me La_Enfermera!!!! :)

Hi Badcooliebwoy! On the revised welcome letter that was sent out there was a paragraph at the bottom that said to read chapters 1,2,3,4,8,23,26,30,3,ad 35 for fundamentals. Read chapters 1-9 for math plus do the quizzes, and read pharmacology chapters 2,4,38, and 53.

I wasn't sure if all these readings where due the 10th or the actual first week of classes.

That's actually a good point, I'd try and get as much done by the 10th as possible (its a ton of reading). Quick question were you ever able to log into moodle? Last time I spoke to Sandra she said they were working on a new site but the was at the end of November.

I know! I still can't log on! I hope there was nothing that we needed but I doubt it. It seems that they sent us everything we need! I can't believe we start in almost 4 days!!!

Hey guys,

I don't know if you guys had trouble logging in to moodle rooms or not but I did with the credentials they gave me. To get around it, I input my user name and chose "forgot password" which sends a link to your e-mail address and allows you to change it and log in. In case you forgot your username is first initial, last name. Quick question, what was the "IHI" thing she mentioned? I walked out of class a bit confused about that. ttyl.
