Gateway CC LPN Cohort Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey All,

I thought I'd create a thread for future LPN applicants awaiting admission for, hopefully, the Fall 2016 cohort.

I was hoping for a lucky spring 2016 spot, but oh well..., so here's to hoping for this fall.

I finished a nursing assistant course at Paradise Valley Community College and submitted my PN application on 12/7/2015. So I thought others can share their "patience" on here like me.

Hope clinicals are going well! Usually it's your stethoscope, watch, badge. I carry a notebook and pens with me but since we're in the hospital setting for this block we don't have time to carry a notebook around.

It is boring so far because we haven't taken the med practicum yet. Sadly by the time we actually take it some of us will only have 2 more days of clinical left. How's the hospital setting going? Got all your IVs in already?

Yeah the IVs were intimimaging at first but once you get them over and over it becomes just another skill. The hospital setting is completely different. You don't get to know the pts. There are new ones every week.

Hi everyone! Saving this post for later. It sounds like everyone waited about a year after turning in applications. Is that pretty typical?

Yeah pretty much I waited 8 months

How is it going? Are you in the day time program?

Pretty good, not what I was expecting but good. I'm in the evening program

It is only a semester wait. I am in day. We go through the summer and graduate August 14th but we dont walk or get pinned until the evening class graduates as well.

What's different than what you were expecting? Block 1 is pretty straightforward and organized. Block 2 is noticeably much more difficult and there are more clinical days that you have to complete along with an additional day you choose of your own. On top of that, our tests deal heavily with nursing interventions and everything becomes less factually based, and becomes more critical thinking. This block makes it feel all too real, especially since we're going to be finishing the program in 6 weeks.

@Nurse_2b_kei, Have you received acceptance for fall 2017 cohort?

So I applied last June got in that October and started thus past January and am in fast track done this August

I applied November 2016 and I just received a letter asking if I am still interested and if I wanted days or evenings. I prefer days but will accept either. I wonder what my chances of getting in for fall 2017 are. I have been a nervous wreck waiting.
