Galen Tampa Fl July 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone. I am currently an LPN looking to attend Galen nursing school in Tampa FL. I will be attending the July class *speaking it into existence*:) At the moment I am taking prereqs here in northern Fl to transfer into the Galen program so that it will cut down on the tuition and also lighten my load while attending the program. I have not attended any info sessions all I have done so far is speak with a lady by the name of Michelle in the NSG dept. Is anyone else out there interested in the July class?

Hopefully we can go together, a "buddy system" type of thing. Like I said I am in Fl ( about 5.5 hours from Tampa) we can meet up and go to the school to get info together, Im open to anything, really. Just don't want to do it alone. BUT I WILL! Im relocating to go to this school. Is anyone else willing to relocate as well?

For the people who has completed the LPN-RN program , Did any of you start the program with your prereqs already taken? Does financial aid still cover the 1st & 2nd quarter being that you will only be taking nursing courses ?

It's actually in NE St Pete

:laugh:

Whatever. Same thing

Hey! I'm actually thinking about attending this July as well. What part of Florida do you live in? I live in Bradenton!

I live in Panama City. It's about 5 hours away. But like I said I am relocating to attend this school.

Are you moving to St Pete?

I relocated from Boston to attend Galen, without having attended any information sessions. Big mistake. Please please please make sure you have a list of questions to ask these people when you come down. Their inability to answer key questions was a huge turn off for me. I am in another program now, and feel much better about it. Good luck!

Are u attending a private college? Do u mind sharing details?

@unicornmagic

Could you give me an idea on which questions to ask?

I am not attending a private college. I could not risk paying 3x what a regular school would cost, in order to save some time. Read reviews everywhere you can (https://collegetimes.co/galen-college-of-nursing-tampa-bay/ is just one example), and get as much information as possible. Galen reminded me of when I joined the military....they aggressively recruited you and promised the world, but could not provide any facts to back anything up. If you fail any clinical 2x, you are out of the program, and out all of that money. You will also have no credits to transfer anywhere else. Even if you get to your last semester and fail a clinical 2x, you are booted. They are a private business, so their credits don't transfer. Look into which school you want to get your BSN from...call and ask if they accept Galen credits. The only place I was able to find and Galen was able to name that accepts their credits for a BSN was Phoenix University Online. No thanks. Of course Galen works for some people. Good for them. I know several people who signed up when I was thinking about going, and none of them are in the program still. They were all screwed over and left under a pile of debt with no credits that transfer anywhere. Again, it may work for you, but please just be careful and do lots of homework before signing anything. Not having to wait for a school is appealing, but these places often have no wait list because they accept anyone who has the money.

@UnicornMagic thank you for all the info. You and plenty of reviews have turned me completely away from Galen!! Those reviews scared the life out of me.
