Experience degree

Specializes in Oncology/Hematology.

Has anyone heard of the experience degree. What is it? They say you pay money send in your experience letter and they will send you your diploma in nursing. Has anyone done this and then took their NCLEX with this degree??

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

Sounds like a scam.

Giving academic credit for life and/or work experience is one of the traditional signs of a "diploma mill"/scam. I suggest you ask your state BON what they think before you spend any money on this. There are some legitimate schools that offer degrees based on passing competency exams to prove you know the information covered in the courses -- but you have to pass the exams, the school doesn't just take your word for it. :)

Complete scam. It will never lead to a license for you.

I have a colleague who got a "PhD" in nine months "getting credit for experience," and the school was closed down for fraud (and moved to another state with, presumably, less-attentive regulators). She still uses the credential, though, a fact I find reprehensible.

Yes, that's what I thought too. I will be going to excelsior for my LPN to RN, and test out on all the courses that I have older than 5 years. I just hate that I have to pay to take A&P l and ll, Microbiology over again.
